Where the Hell did Quantum go?!

"I told you what you wanted to know about Quantum." said Dominic Greene.

And that was the last mention of this shadowy terrorist organization. I know a lot of them were arrested/died after the opera scene, but White survived and we've seen what he's capable of!

Seeing as the Daniel Craig bonds are prequels to the storyline, maybe the next Bond film will be about hunting down Quantum? MI6's heroics in the court hearing in Skyfall might have granted them the PM's backing to go after them. Maybe a member of Quantum (or even Mr. White himself) is put through a terrible ordeal and injured in part of the film and hospitalized, presumed to die. At the end of the film, when James Bond bangs the Bond girl and drives away - the girl is taken to Mr. White.

"Mr. White I presume?"
"I used to go by that name..." White trails off vaguely, sat in a leather chair turned away from her. "But you can call me Ernest Stavro Blofeld..." he continued. White slowly turns in his chair, carrying a perfect "White" cat in one arm, as the other arm extends a finger, posed over a little red button built into the arm of his chair.

They're still out there. There are reports of lots of people at the San Diego Comic Con this weekend wearing Quantum lapel pins. They're everywhere.

I want to see a M-Bond breifing at the start of Bond 24, something that goes like this.
Bond:'Sir, you wanted to see me?'
M: Sit down, 007...(Brings out black For your eyes only folder)
Bond: Is there something wrong, sir?
M:It's Quantum, we didn't know they existed till seven years ago, after your 'holiday' in Bosnia the trail's gone completely cold.
    Bond: That's right sir...
    M:Well, something's finally come up...

I've seen them all :( I just don't remember when someone says Quantum disappeared. Was it when the Bond villain used moving objects to cover his escape? Like a moving market place?

I don't have a problem with Quantum returning mainly because I really like the shadowy Mr. White and the actor who plays him. It is true however that Bond in QOS exposed many of the Quantum members and it is possible that the rest of Quantum was destroyed in the time that passed between QOS and Skyfall. Maybe Mr. White is in jail or being held somewhere in secret by MI6 or the powers that be and MI6 needs to use him to help get at someone else. That might be interesting and a relatively believable excuse to get him back into a film. White appeared to be a pragmatist so I could see him helping MI6 to gain his freedom plus he did respect Bond.

Quantum went the same place SPECTRE went in Goldfinger.

Maybe there's a graveyard for shadowy criminal organisations, SPECTRE, SMERSH, Quantum, Majestic 12, Megiddo - they must all be there having tea together and talking about "the good old days" when they'd corrupted a load of powerful people, despite the fact that nobody had ever heard of them.

I heard Sam Mendes say in one press conference SkyFall would be a total different story. That means Quantum would not come back, neither would his relationship with Vesper surface in the last opus. That's a choice they made. :)

Who cares? They were so shadowy as to have no defining characteristics in my view. They served a purpose and I hope that we are done with them, unless they can put some flesh on the bones if they do reappear. I appreciate for some there shadowy nature was a real plus point though.

Any sense of continuity in Bond movies has long been lost, so whatever happened in any previous movie will no bearing on Bond 24.

No. As has been talked about many, many, many times, the Craig era marks a "reboot"--a start-over that pretty well pretends Bonds #1-20 either didn't happen or happened in an alternate universe.

One of the script deficiencies of QoS was the lack of closure with Quantum...not to mention the way in which Mr. White rather just drifts out of the narrative after remarking "Tosca isn't for everyone." :# Missed opportunities galore. I wouldn't mind a Quantum resurgence...as is, they're certainly no SPECTRE.

There was a defining moment filmed for Mr White...but it was decided not to use it...I wonder why that was....

I'm sure you're right...but it certainly didn't serve QoS, which IMO already had its share of challenges with the writers' strike. We'll see if it bears future fruit. I'd like to see a fully-evolved Craig Bond lay Quantum low in #24 or #25; that would be a nice development.

I've heard back and forth rumors of Bond 24 & 25 being on or being ditched. There was speculation that Mendes didn't want to return for a 2 parter because it would take 4+ years of his career.

Either way, I doubt any decision is 100% at this point. If the Making of Documentaries have shown me anything, it's that a lot of the production changes could be made last minute. We are still a ways from filming starting, so they could really take it a myriad of different ways.

I personally think a 100% decision has been made - either way....at the very least a treatment would have been written for 24, if not a first draft - otherwise Mendes wouldn't have agreed to direct...and that draft would reflect whether its a two parter or not...unless they scrap it and start again...but that wouldn't seem feasible given the time frame and Mendes being in position to direct...

But its Eon...so I suppose anything could happen :))

The rumor was that Logan finished his script in May. Mendes changed his mind and in July agreed to direct Bond 24. You do the math.

Not hard to imagine a teaser trailer where snippets of dialogue about Quantum is folded in over their logo.

    Factory+Entertainment+James+Bond+SDCC+2013+Exclusive+Q+Pin+Prop+Replica+01.jpg

Which (over chatter of them resurfacing, growing, changing) grows a few more tendrils to become a new-yet-familar SPECTRE logo...
