Wondering what peoples take on this guy is:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-TomFord-100-Silk-StripeDesign-PeachPink-color-BottleShapeTie-/151095252817?pt=US_Mens_Ties&hash=item232dfa9751
He's got a number of TF ties for sale, no Bond stuff but I'm interested in some regardless. The feedback score is a bit dodgy, but not terribly so. I'm just worried his stuff might be fake? How often does TF stuff get faked?
Thanks for any info.

Low price (not always a good sign)
Not high feedback (if it were me his feedback isn't high enough for my liking)
Item and seller locations don't match (sellers location is just 'US' which seems a bit expansive.)
If it were me, I wouldn't buy, but there again I'm a very cynical and skeptical person. It'd be interesting if any long standing members have had any experience with this seller, but if a new member suddenly appears, signing their praises, I'd be dubious about that as well lol.
Good luck and be careful.

I'm really on the fence about this.

That's a shame. I've noticed with ties that they can look quite different in person than how they do on screen, especially when the item has multiple colours and shades to it.
How did you know it was a genuine TF?
I have a number of Tom Ford ties, shirts, jackets etc and any fakes are poor quality, I did advise him if he was trying to say that he should fully describe the colours etc possible as what I got was not the one in the listing as it had a number of close up's too.
I have however got other ties off him that we're exactly as shown and as any Tom ford item high quality, there is certainly a very different feel to the material in Tom ford ties, it's nothing like even Gucci etc, Tom ford is much softer.
Hope this helps a little.
If you are going to buy from him you will get hit buy customs, so make sure you take that into account and ask him for a description of the tie and colour etc so there are no issues.

I'm in Canada so I tend to get nailed for import charges a lot. It's really frustrating but they're inevitable if I want to own nice things (the domestic retail market is abysmal here).
That's my point the uk is really bad, I have bought a 10 dollar item and paid customs on it, which is ok but there 8 or 14 release fee is hat really bugs me.

I bought some beautiful Church's shoes recently from Herring shoes because they were on sale (and from their Custom Grade line) and paid over $100 CDN for them in duties when they arrived . Pretty good way to negate the savings of the sale.
I think the item, value + the shipping cost has to be over £36 to qualify for a customs duty, I'm not sure of the rate but add a handling charge and VAT
If its below you can get a refund. many people think its clever to over value a parcel and insurance but forget the buyer has to pay customs
That's only if it's marked as a Gift but if it shows it has been sold they can still charge you custom, also if you ever apply for a refund you only get the customs not the release fee as that's charged by royal mail or parcel force and they point blank refuse to refund it under any circumstances

I get the impression it's like the 'COD' I sometimes pay in Canada. I think it stands for 'Collect On Delivery' or something to that effect. Basically a surcharge for the service of delivering the item to you despite the fact that you have in theory already paid for that. In other words, a final 'F*** YOU' for daring to purchase something from outside your country.

The tie I got is quite nice and I'm glad to have a genuine Tom Ford item. BUT, the pictures are very deceiving in terms of just how wide the tie is. It's not quite 30's/70's-style wide, but the pictures all make it look like a slim tie when it's absolutely not. I still gave positive feedback as he does mention somewhere that it's a 'bottleneck shaped' tie or something like that, but I couldn't figure out what the hell that meant, and like I said the pictures do not reflect the real dimensions of the tie.
