Magnoli tie colours - real life compared to website

I purchased the Ricci tie from Magnoli recently and it's now one of my favourite ties. I was looking at getting either the Skyfall or the Granborough tie as I believe that they would look good with a charcoal and blue Glen plaid suit that I just bought. However, on the website the grey colour (or what I presume to be the grey) looks very much purple. Now, this could be my monitor or the website itself but I thought I'd double check. Anyone here have either tie? Comments on the colours, both in terms of personal tastes and how they compare to the photos on the website?

    I have both ties.
I guess it depends on your monitor colour and settings really but both ties are BLUE no hint of purple. From a distance the Skyfall tie is more slate coloured whereas the Granborough is a nice deep blue. On my iPad, the close-up picture of the Granborough is pretty accurate and both pictures of the Skyfall tie.

FWIW, the Granborough is my favourite of these two. The Skyfall tie isn't very screen accurate as the pattern is way too small. They are both beautifully made ties though.

    Hope that helps!

Magnoli has said that he's working on a new version of the skyfall tie that will be more screen accurate. Apparently he's having difficulty with the blue.

I have both ties also and agree with uncle. Including that the granborough is the best of the two.

Cheers for that. I have a triple basket-weave in navy blue, French blue, and light grey which looks quite nice with my suit but the overall effect is very blue-ish. I was looking for a tie where the overall effect would be more charcoal, and triple basket-weave is my favourite pattern. The added benefit is that if the charcoal "look" of the tie doesn't match the charcoal of the suit, then with a triple basket-weave there are enough colours in there that it doesn't look like a failed attempt at perfect matching.

Therefore I guess the Skyfall tie would suit me better, although I do love the look of the Granborough. I'm thinking that the new version of the Skyfall tie may be quite close to what I already have so I'd be better off getting the existing version...too lazy to post a pic tonight but I'll try to take one tomorrow to show what I've already got.

Here's a couple of pics of my current tie - I would guess that it comes off as more blue than the Magnoli Skyfall tie? It's a little more subdued in the real world. The trick is that my suit is charcoal under some lighting and navy blue under others...

muddying up the waters. Does he have a problem in getting the pattern right for the Greene party? I noticed his from his pictures that the pattern is nowhere near the actual pattern. Did he use an actual TF Greene party for the replica?

Actually, his Greene Planet Party tie is spot-on to the real TF tie, IMO. I don't think the pics on his site do that tie any justice. Of the "QoS" ties, it's definitely the best.

I also agree that Magnoli's Greene Party tie is spot on. I have the TF and the Magnoli and the pattern and colors of the Magnoli replicate the TF perfectly.

I got a copy of the PTS and the pattern is nowhere near. The TF Has a 3D feel and look because of the weave type, whereas the Magnoli is flat. However, I like Magnoli's because it does not snag or pull because of said weave missing.

What makes the bolivia the worse?

colour shade, the squares, looks flat (does not give you the different colours when hitting the light at the angles etc)

It looks pretty bland in comparison though understandable I guess with the diff in material quality

Just to clarify, is the Green Party tie what is now sold as the 'Quantum' tie? As in this one: http://www.magnoliclothiers.com/quantum-tie-ties-p-287.html

Or is this a different product and the original Green Party tie by Magnoli not available anymore?

I just received Magnoli's new Istanbul tie and it's great. Here's a pic of the new version next to the old. New version is on the left. Sorry about the yellow tinge in the photo. The ties are definitely silver and black.

Can't wait to wear it tomorrow.
