I asked you a very simple question...'whom do you put in the Flemingist/Daltonite camp' (whom you were complaining about)...you then proceed to use a smoke screen to refrain from answering....
Plus....nothing annoys me more than people 'claiming' something has been said to back up their argument - then cannot back it up when pulled on it... X-(
I only have an 'aggressive opinion' when people spout rubbish...NOT if their opinions match mine or not...you need to get your facts right....you say this has 'been noticed' by other members...and you give ONE example...and all that stemmed from one member than had MANY complaints about him...and I answered that post too....and followed it up via PM with them so we could discuss it further...plus the same options I gave that person are open to everybody...
You don't wish to waste your time on this thread anymore....?....because you have been found out.
Sir Miles is cocky because Liverpool have taken maximum points this season. Still, early days...
While Dalton has his fans, it's harder to call back in the day cos before the internet, these purist-type fans only existed in isolation, they didn't have much clout as they didn't really know of the others' existance much. So yeah, Dalton might well have had his fans, but not enough to constitute a following. Back then.
Likewise, Batman had a broad box office appeal, but had to hit it out the ballpark with everyone ie had Jack Nicholson, Kim Basinger, Prince soundtrack. The more purist type adventure films we see now were less likely cos fans could not come together as an internet presence.
So it doesn't matter that loads of fans pitch up now saying, yeah, Dalton was great, I liked him. I just don't think he generated much buzz among the public, just as back then Lazenby's film was generally seen as not much cop, because a sizeable number of isolated fans could not create a viable fan base. It didn't help that the marketing was rubbish for LTK, though the song did okay it's very generic and the singer nothing fancy or current.
The internet has for better or worse changed the way films can be marketed, look at all the 9/11 conspiracies and how that has changed a general outlook and view that it was an inside job - though the opinion is legitimate nowhere in the press.

Just found this thread - Dalton has always been my fave - he's equally at home in a tuxedo, a uniform or anything in between - he has the sense of moral outrage at the injustices he's fighting (which all of the Bond's have with the exception of Craig and Lazenby). He can be dramatic, funny, romantic and violent. As others have said, it's a real shame the franchise was dying at the time despite both TLD and LTK being excellent films with great story lines and characters. Dalton was just right - not too silly like Moore, not too superficial like Brosnan, not too sexist like Connery, and not too gritty and scarred like Craig.
Thank You! You described Daltons bond perfectly. To me hes the ultimate "human" bond, he captures every emotion and feeling magnificently without being broken like Craigs bond is at times.
Time to make some enemies I think Dalton is OVERrated. His movies are the least watched movies for me. For some reason, I never saw him as James Bond, he lacked the charisma, the looks, the sense of humor.
Honestly, I tried to like him. My favourite Bond movies are the first 5 Connery's and OHMSS, so you could savely assume that I would like Dalton also. But I don't. The movies themselves lack great production value. Especially LTK looked like a TV movie version of Miami Vice. And TLD lacked good villains, had the dullest Bond girl and was overly long in the Afghanistan scenes.
So maybe it is the lack of material, maybe it is the lack of charisma of Dalton. I don't know, but the movies don't do it for me. I never wanted to be like Dalton if I think of impersonating Bond I think of Connery, of Brosnan or even the quick humor of Moore, although I think he was the worst Bond (no danger, animal attraction or athletism at all)

No enemies, just fellow fans who disagree. Although I agree that Dalton doesn't quite have the charisma that Connery or Brosnan ooze effortlessly, for me he makes up for it with his convincing portrayal of an agent who takes his job seriously and who faces real conflicts and peril in the course of carrying out his duties. I can see your point about the lack of production values, although I think that applies to LTK more than TLD. I also agree about Kara - I think she's pretty bland and uninteresting. At least you don't think Dalton is the "worst" Bond!
Dalton has a total lack of cheek. Admittedly, not really seen much in Fleming's Bond, though I do fancy it was sort of there. He just has none of that schoolboyish thing going on. At times it is just as awkward as Lazenby, but he is not as handsome or physical so it doesn't work for me really.

We know you do, Nap. But apparently our friend Mr. Osato thinks Moore is worse. (And not surprisingly, I agree).
Yes Moore was worse. There was no sense of danger coming from him. He did not move like a cat like Connery. Only thing he has was his wit. I do like the Moore movies at times, more than the Dalton movies actually. But Dalton at least had a look, that you did not know what kind of guy he is. Moore, you saw him coming.
Dalton is very much the literature Bond. But it didn't work on the big screen for me. Connery is pure perfection: danger, athlete, charm, wit, intelligence, elegance. Pure class he was.

As an actor, no one is a match for Connery.
As James Bond, however, I think the fact that Dalton was 'the literature Bond' is the reason why I rate him so highly. I'm unashamedly a Fleming purist, and believe that all Bonds should be played the way he was written by Fleming, and Dalton, along with Connery's first two performances, came closest to that.
I wonder whether the Dalton critics have actually read any of Fleming's novels and analysed the character closely.

Yes I have and with a lot of pleasure. Most of the books are excellent: Casino Royale,Dr No, From Russia with love, OHMSS, Thunderball were excellent. Moonraker, Goldfinger were very good. The rest good to mediocre.
When I read the Bond novels, I am still with Connery in mind. This makes sense, because he was the James Bond that played in the movie versions of most of the novels.
I think the movie version as played by Connery is the improved version of the one that Fleming wrote. That is how high I rate Connery. Like I said: Perfection.

Hey Lexi, good to see you here.

Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
Agree completely. If anyone's overrated it's Kara Milovy - one of the worst bond girls of the series.
1 - Moore, 2 - Dalton, 3 - Craig, 4 - Connery, 5 - Brosnan, 6 - Lazenby
