Daniel Craig and Sean Connery Suiting

Hey everybody,

I have a question about Bond suiting.

1. Daniel Craig's QOS Tom Ford suits: Did they use the typical Base A or Base B cuts, or was it a custom model not available off the rack?

2. Sean Connery's Anthony Sinclair Suits: What's the best off-the-rack option that mimics the Sinclair cut? Would it be the Ralph Lauren Black Label 'Anthony' suit? My understanding is that the RL 'Anthony' cut may be an homage to Anthony Sinclair.

Your help is appreciated!

    1. The QoS suits are the Base B. The Skyfall suits were made for the film and are not available. There is a button-two version available.

    2. There is really nothing out there like the Anthony Sinclair suits. Trends today go for a "slim" cut and Connery's suits aren't "slim." Connery's suits have some drape, which is the opposite of most clothes you'll find today. If you get a RLBL suit you may need to size up in chest and length. But the slim trousers that are a part of that line are nothing like Connery's traditional double forward pleat trousers with a long rise. Connery's suits also did not have shoulder padding whilst the Anthony suit has a fair bit.

Thanks for the reply Matt. My understanding is that if I wanted to go for the Skyfall look, I'd have to do MTM through TF.

As for Connery's suits, that's a good point about the drape and pleats. But I would disagree about the shoulder; the Sinclair cut has a structured shoulder.

Maybe for the regular Sinclair suit, but due to Connery's broad shoulders and physique, Sinclair suited him with less padded natural shoulder.

Sinclair himself said that he did not use any shoulder padding. It was indeed structured with canvas but had no padding. I'm not sure if he used padding for other clients, though he used less waist suppression for Connery to make his athletic physique look more elegant.
