People who are interested in James Bond join the forum. They find, to their delight, that there are many messages here, covering a variety of subjects. They go back and forth through old and new posts. They may comment on or reply to posts that interest them. That's why some older posts get shoved up to the top of the list, and I'm surprised that you seem unaware of how the system works.

I'm sorry but you come across as a total weapon. Is there really a need to attempt to be so smarmy?

So what was it about Richtw's full stop mark that caught your attention and made you think it was so important that you brought it back to the top of the list, twice?
You guys are certainly showing signs of "I've been on this forum for years, so would new posters please abide by my rules?". If I thought a funny point could be made by saying that a white full stop wasn't just a mistake, but could be seen as a genuine 007 movie reference, what harm does that do? I certainly don't need "old hands" trying to tell me off for it. Don't I have the right to comment on posts older than a certain date?
I genuinely think you've missed the point here. No-one was trying to act the "big I am", other than to question (in a fairly standard, non-provoking manner) the purpose of resurrecting an obviously redundant & for that matter worthless thread.
I'm still not sure why you chose to post such a condescending reply to what was a genuine question raised, but I'm sure you'll enlighten us in good time.
I posted the reply I did because it's not up to individual posters on a forum to decide that posts are "obviously redundant" or "worthless", if other posters find them interesting.
Is this the only forum on the internet where older posts get commented on by new members?
It's not a case of an old hand trying to play boss.
I'm not a mod, I don't own the site. However, as weird as it may seem, I do care about AJB and enjoy conversing with many friends, old and new on it.
The best way to enjoy a forum is to throw yourself in and enter into discussion.
We've had people join here so blinkered in their views that it's been (in some rare cases) a matter of a few days before they're banned or choose to leave. You have to have an open mind. You also have to be respectful of people. Christ I can't believe this is coming from me.
I could have said;
"oi, dickhead, pack it in trolling our forum and bringing up old useless and pointless threads! it's not funny and you're being a confrontational arsehole who seems to be simply looking for a way to provoke people."
Instead I just tried to point out that while you may think your hilarious ice breaking comedy is highly regarded, you might just annoy a few people who prefer to monitor and contribute to the more present and relevent thread topics.
That's all, just trying to steer you in the right direction. Why? Is it because I think I'm some long standing member who can get away with telling others what to do? No. Is it because I think I'm better than you because you're new here? No?
So whats the reason?
Because I don't like seeing AJB trolled over n buggered up (not saying this is what you're doing Walt) nor do I like seeing new members accidentally make an arse of themselves.
If you've found an old thread and you think you've got some relevent information to add that might benefit other members then sure, go ahead and post away.
Resurrecting a full stop mark though just makes me (maybe its just me, maybe others feel the same) feel that its a bit daft and not really that funny.
That's really all I have to add. It's not a bum slap or any form of warning, I was just, and continue to, help you new members out sometimes and explain where and why you might be going off course a little.
Well put MG , and if I may add my two pence worth , we all like or at least think that what we have to say ,others will find either interesting or amusing ,after all its in our human nature to desire to be liked ,So the object of this forum is either ,(1) to bring something to the table to share with others ,hopefully something our fellow members would find usefull ,or(2) to discover that part of information we are seeking to improve our lot , ( I joined as I was desperate to find out where I could get levi sta-prest from CR) and ive met some wonderful gifted people ,who constantly stagger me with their wealth of knowledge , So if you want to be heard ? other wise members will see your post and think oh its him and click on else where, I know cos they do it too me ) :x

Nice to see that it's getting recognition at last.
Seriously guys, it just pushes more popular threads off the front page of the section and brings nothing to the table.

It would appear to me that you're spoiling for an argument for no obvious reason, so with respect will leave you to it.
Enjoy.
