    Ah, the Harry Palmer series was wonderful stuff (although the books were better). Caine was never better. "The IPCRESS File" wasn't my favourite despite John Barry's wonderful score; I definitely preferred "Funeral In Berlin" and (although I admit this is a minority view) "Billion Dollar Brain". The later Palmer films made in the 90s were weak in comparison.
    Various members of the Bond crew worked on the Palmer movies of the 60s (Guy Hamilton, John Barry, Maurice Binder...), which isn't surprising given that they were produced by Harry Saltzman.

    "The Ipcress File" is one of my Top 5 favorite films. I loved everything about it, especially the weird camera angles that director Sidney J. Furie used. (Interestingly, most of Furie's other films were pretty bad.)

    I thought the camera angles created the sensation that the viewer was in fact spying on the film's characters, not just watching them from afar.

    Of course, I'm a fan of more avant garde filmmaking (and music and art and literature). And I am also one of those rare individuals who thought Marc Forster's directing and editing on QoS was superb.

    A fab film, but the director didn't do much of note otherwise I believe. Camera angles anticipated Performance. Great stuff, only one to have Barry on soundtrack so can't be beat imo.

    You know I'd never thought of that...although that makes complete sense.

    As for Marc Forster's direction of QoS, I couldn't agree more...I loved his vision and execution of it. QoS is, I think, my favourite Bond movie -{

    Glad to know you all liked the film, Palmer (Caine ) comes across and is told
    that he is a bit of a gourmet, sound familiar? and Gordon Jackson went on to be head of C.I 5
