Possible Bond actors

I know this must be a very popular topic here at AJB but it deserves another repost. Some of the lists on the internet are laughable and it seems like they are just pulling down the Top Ten male celebrities they can think of.
I have mine in two lists, famous movie actors and lesser known.
Famous Actors-
Gerald Butler-Would be great in fight scenes and would be fairly close to a Brosnan Bond possibly?

Henry Cavill-Mentioned a lot, just looks the part etc.

Colin Firth-He is old, yes, but I adore him ever since I saw him in the 1995 P and P miniseries. If tEON ever decided to kill off Bond, use Colin Firth to bring him to and end. Superb actor and rather handsome (I'm a Male so not too good on that thing)

Tom Hardy-Good age, been in good films and would be simliar to his Inception character

Benedict Cumberbatch-Has shown an interest, superb at Sherlock, bit skinny though

Ewan McGregor-People complain that he's too short but he is so good, I can see a bit of Dalton in him.

Unknown Actors-

Laurence Fox-From the famous in England Fox Family, great in Lewis (sequel to Morse) and has gone to try his luck in Hollywood.

Jason Hughes-From Midsomer Murders, just think he would do a good job,

From your list, only Henry Cavill fits the part in my opinion. He looks like a Bond, he has the right age also. Don't think he is terribly charismatic though, but he is still young.

Benedict cucumber or whatever his name is, is horribly looking. Looks like an alien. How he won most sexy man of the year award beats me. Clearly not a Bond type.

I would more consider Matthew Goode: Has great charisma, needs to buff up a bit, but he has a gentleman cool about him.

Ewan McGregor is too old by the time Craig stops, Colin Firth also and probably Gerard Butler also. Butler is a good action hero, but lacks the sophistication I think. It is like casting Jason Statham.

Bale would have been a good choice also. Great actor. But is now 40? Could be too old when Craig stops. But looks and acts the part.

    I agree, IMHO Bale is now too old to play Bond but he'd be pefect as a Villain. -{

Michael Fassbender would be the obviouse choise if Craig got hit by a piano tomorrow, but in a few years he will be too old and famous.

Cavill is too male model-looking and he is Superman now. Bale is too famous.

Other good candidates are Benedict Cumberbatch, Clive Standen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Taylor is in my opinion a younger, taller, less odd-looking and less famous version of Tom Hardy.

    Richard Armitage?

Armitage and Standen. Standen looks like a good fit to me, and they're both the right age. Have not seen them in a film, but they physically fill the bill.

Standen is 32 and Armitage is 42, so Armitage rapidly becoming too old.

I'm precisely as old as Armitage is, so it pains me to say this :# The earliest release date for a Bond film with a new actor is 2020. By then Armitage and I will be 49. As a result, the next Bond actor is probably born in the 80's.

There is a guy in Holland who would be great and was born in the '80 who might have a shot :D

For me, if the decision was made tomorrow, then Michael Fassbender

But in a few years Tom Hiddleston. Both at the right age.

You are wrong, I was born in 78, but I do look younger. Thanks for thinking of me though :D

Seriously, what do people see in Cumberbatch? He looks like an alien! How hard can it be to find a 6 foot 1 actor, well build, dark hair, blue eyes, killer look but oozes charisma?

I am going for Matthew Goode. Now 35, but with Boyish looks and a real Brit:

I think this has been posted on another thread, but there are two young Brits who might be contenders.....

    1. Robert Pattinson. From teen idol to action hero. He'll be about the right age in 2020, and is gaining experience and pedigree.

    2. Alex Pettyfer. Similar to Pattinson. Got the body for it. But apparently got a massive ego and notoriously difficult to work for which I'm guessing Broccoli and Wilson won't stand for.

Anyone agree, or am I about to get shot down big time!

Wasn't it one of the major movie magazines that put Pattison on a Possible Bond-list "because we genually believe the internett would explode if this happened" :))

Dear lord please say it ain't so!

I'd rather have Matt Lucas of Little Britain fame playing Bond than that guy.

Recently discovered Jeremy Irvine. Another young Brit who although is too young now, might be of age when Craig bows out. Thoughts?

I can see why you've picked him out...looks a 'pretty boy' type (I'm only jealous :# )...haven't seen him act - which is the crucial part...but I would have thought he has potential...I take it we can trust you to keep an eye on him ? :D

Except for Jeremy Irvine, all of the named candidates are too old. The next Bond is probably doing TV commercials right now.

I've only seen Jeremy Irvine in War Horse and I thought he did alright.

Jeremy Irvine must age really fast or Craig must keep playing Bond for longer than most think for him to be the next 007. He'll be the right age in the 2020's.
I think my favourite at this time is Aaron Taylor-Johnson. He's the same age, but he looks older.

I still haven't changed from my preference for Henry Cavill to take over the role once Craig vacates it. Since Craig is doing the next 2, and these days they're three years apart, the next two will be made in 2015 and 2018, which means 2021 will be the earliest at which a new Bond will debut. That rules out actors who are already 40 now. Cavill was born in 1983, so he'll be 38 when he makes his debut - same age as Craig was when he made his debut in Casino Royale.
