Barbour Jacket - Tailored

Has anyone sent their Barbour Commander back to Barbour to be tailored? I need mine taken in a bit and wanted to know if they do a good job or a i should leave it.

Any help is much appreciated.

I don't think barbour will "take in "the jacket. Some members have had the sleeved shotened. They can re wax and make repairs but won't undertake any major tailoring. The mantis had his :" let out" so perhaps in the U.S. they can do this. I wanted mine slimmed down... In the end I just got a size smaller.

I'm in between sizes, medium is to small and the large just a bit big.

I was quoted for about $90 by Barbour in NYC to make the body slimmer so I think they will tailor it in. Call in to make sure.

Wow, that's a lot. In New York, taking in the body shouldn't cost more that half that. But I wonder if it needs any kind of wax treatment after the alterations.

After the alteration the jacket don't need a waxing, I got mine to my tailor but he is extremely good.
Every proper tailor should do that kind of work. But you must choose a very knowledgeable, because the under part of the back, is a bit tricky if you still want usable pockets.

Yeah I had my tailor quote me for $40 but I'm sure Barbour uses really high quality stuff like waterproof thread and all that (that's what I heard).

If it's only waterproof thread, spend a few dollars on the thread and bring it to your tailor to use. Ask Barbour what they can do that no good alterations tailor can do.
