If Connery had carried on?

We all know how he looked in NSNA, which was of course the same year as OP. So if Connery hadn't left the role the first or second time, how far do you think he could have got before EON had to finish him? We know that they asked him to return for LALD, but personally I think coming back for DAF was a step too far.

Exactly. That is why they recast different actors to play Bond, to keep the series fresh. That is why the franchise has lasted so long.
7 films is the absolute maximum for me.
" I don't listen to hip hop!"
plenty of publicity with "Who's the new Bond " every ten years or so.
and we need another actorx-war on AJB soon
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!

I agree that Diamonds Are Forever is not his finest hour, but since we're talking about "what ifs", "what if" he had been as committed to the role then as he was in his first four films?
I think you're on to something there. Not only was Connery still in pretty good shape in the latter part of the 70s, but he was also in decent shape in NSNA (certainly in better shape than Moore). That being said, I think DAF was about the right time for him to call it quits and although I enjoy DAF quite a bit, I wish he had better film as his swan song.
Recently saw 'The Return of the Man from U.N.C.L.E.' which Lazenby has a cameo as JB in and I thought he still looked good then (that film was made in 1983 which was the same year as OP and NSNA).
