Oh, and we only get to learn her name at the end of the film, correction, even Bond only gets to learn her name. Dearie me.
Yes, that alone is mind-numbingly pathetic.
Bond works with her abroad. Of course, he wouldn't know her name.... 8-)
And DOES anyone actually call her Eve!!!!!!
But the most brainless element is that she's poncing about MI6 with a bloody name badge fastened to her, chats with JB.... and the fuckwit still doesn't notice her name!!!!!!!!!!
Wouldn't it have been simpler, instead of the contrived crap of "we haven't been properly introduced" for Bond to have said "Welcome to the team, MISS MONEYPENNY" because he knew her name all along and, of course, we didn't.....
Does that suggestion lose any impact in the reveal? I say not,

In my view, giving the female characters certain flaws and having them make mistakes (just as men do) is not the same as "shoddy treatment" of those characters. One may have a different view of the plot and how it plays out, but I believe those are attempts to flesh out the characters and to give certain females more significant roles than in the typical Bond film. For me, it worked.
Well said, sir!
As for this stuff of Bond not knowing her name. . .there is a policy on some espionage missions to not know fellow operatives' names in order to minimize the information the agent can give if that agent is captured. Sure, Eve knows Bond's name, but he's supposed to be pretty famous around MI-6. I'll admit you have to take that with a big grain of salt, but since when are Bond films supposed to be studies in strict realism?
Yeah, that's right Hardyboy.... 8-) That would explain it.
Cos we've always had Bond movies where Bond introduces himself, and his ally on the mission goes 'Well, I'd love to say who I am but of course I can't...' This has led to some tricky situations where Bond has to alert his ally to danger, but not knowing their name has to resort to 'Hey - you there! Watch out!' This confusion is the reason so many of Bond's allies have died while in the field.
As for M, well, I don't mind her having flaws. Rather, it's not entirely clear that they're being presented as flaws, is she Colonel Blimp or Churchill? Some think it's great that she takes time out to read a poem while her enemy is bearing down on her, and her sidekicks are careful not to butt in. For some of us, it is like Ian Blair, the head of the Met, who went on Question Time, a political show in the UK on the eve of a shot 'suicide bomber' to give a lordly speech; turned out later his subordinates knew the Brazilian was innocent but had bottled out of telling him!
In the film, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing, or the writer doesn't seem in sync with the director.
For me, Skyfall is a piece of entertainment. Which I enjoyed, I'm sure it has
its flaws but I won't go looking for them. Both Craig and Dench give great
performances with many emotional moments. -{
"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."

The things you are pointing out can perhaps be seen as lapses in the writing and/or direction of the film, but to my point, I don't think that automatically translates into "shoddy portrayal" of the female characters.
Not sure I used the term 'shoddy portrayal', just defending another poster's stance. It does seem to affect the female characters more than the blokes imo, mind you to be fair Q seems a wally and the new M seemed a cold fish for much of the film. And Bond isn't lovely, seemingly unaffected by the shooting of a receptionist, then taking his time to observe rather than intervene while an assassin lines up his target, then banging the assassin's accomplice... I suppose you can argue that both Moneypenny and M are exposed as incompetent more than Bond or Q, yet they have to take the consequences when the blokes don't (Bond is welcomed back into the fold after getting his boss killed), and once again, if you are around Craig's Bond and you are a woman, you shouldn't fancy your chances of getting out alive.

I believe it was actually L. Jones who used the phrase "shoddy portrayal", and I was initially responding to that.
Okay, so Skyfall is full of holes, it's too long, it's low on innovative action set-pieces, it's got not-so-Bondian music, no real Bond girl, it rips off Home Alone at the end and Dan has a bad haircut in it.
Overall, it's a cool movie. ) :007)
I said it before and I'll say it again: Skysall is definite The World Is Not Enough-level entertainment! -{
hate to disagree with you here buddy!
I haven't been able to stomach TWINE the last 3 or 4 times i attempted to watch, while i just saw SF again the other night and I thoroughly enjoy the film, more so everytime.
Took the Mrs. We LOVED it - she declares Skyfall her favourite (It was Goldfinger). I liked it enormously - they really had a good bash at the pallette of the Sixties films, the tailoring doesn't flatter Craig, but they pulled it off. A niggle. The car - where did he get it? - from himself?. Nice to find a pair of machine guns still working, still loaded - but perhaps he stopped at Catterick on his way up for a few boxes of link and a pull-through... you can't really criticise without descending, can you?.
We have it on DVD now - and the song definitely sounded better in the Cinema. A good Bond tune should sound like it, even on a tinny radio in the kitchen. Listen to Diamonds on one. Still, Adele is a gem - and rather a sort, wot-wot?. I hope one can still be clubbable these days - if the sexist brigade are here, tell them I'm getting help. Anywhat - the film; loved the visuals - isn't that a Bognor swimming pool on that rooftop?. M was wonderful, both of them. Especially appreciated the effort to return to Regents Park - Legoland really was for the nineties. Bond has returned to his ancestral home and in Auld Scots tradition - erm, blown it to Smithereens (A small hamlet near Kirkauldy).
I hear noises from across the lounge - the Mrs. is keen for us to visit some shops. Ah, well... perhaps I can steer her into a few of my favourites. So, I must leave you - Skyfall? - well, overall I think it lifts the standard back to the wonderful Casino Royale and perhaps Craig will achieve the ultimate - toppling King Connery from his throne. So far? - I think Connery has it, but Craig is a revelation. (For the record, Roger Moore remains my favourite, though not the best I hasten to concede).
Except for the tuxedo, which will forever be an abomination, the suits in Skyfall have sort of grown on me. I can look at this and no longer run screeeaming from the room.
The pants are still awful, but that's the style nowadays. The jacket's too short, but that's compensated for by the higher button stance, which is atually clever tailoring. In 90% of the shots, you see Bond from the waist up (no juvenile comments, Thunderpussy, please) and he looks fine.

Really? Aside from the single vent, I think the Dinner suit is his best suit n the film!

Roger Moore 1927-2017
I agree with this entirely, although I am curious to know how influential Mendes was on forming the plot.

they look far too tight in Skyfall .
In suits I'd absolutely agree, although I preferred the more "casual" clothing of CR to both QoS & SF.
