Bond book over priced?

I have been doing a lot of shopping on various sites lately trying to complete my Bond novel collections and the one thing I have found is that they are bloody well over priced in many cases.
Take the FEL set released with original cover art and slipcases; I have seen full sets up to $4,000 and some single titles as high as $300. This strikes me as over-pricing. How limited are these editions and how many printings have they done as that information is not stated in the book.
The leather bound set from Easton Press is lovely, and for the most part you can find affordable copies... except for a few which are insanely high.
Not to mention the original 1st editions from Cape, or even US firsts which aren't nearly as pricey but still tough to get on a budget. Collecting Bond is not a poor man's hobby by a long shot.
So, what is our obsession with buying set after set of these books, both in hardcover and/or paperback? Thoughts??
