I would think Connery’s Sub would be worth more than the pre-Daytona if all other factors were equal. No?
6538s seem to go for twice what that site lists. But they have the PVD Night Diver at $8000+ ???
Also, literally WHAT:
No-one knows exactly why Bond switched to Omega, but it’s rumoured that Rolex thought, with the end of the Cold War and middling success of Licence to Kill, that Bond was dated, and wouldn’t last. There’s also a rumour producer Barbara Broccoli thought the Omega looked sleeker.
And we're back in the room,
How does that explain tag being used in Daltons films?
Omega is a natural choice for a royal navy man given the twos history, I was always surprised Fleming gave bond a Rolex tbh.

Yeah, Heuer is a bit of an oddball for Bond but Rolex was a British brand before it moved to Switzerland if I have my facts correct, so that may be the reason why it was chosen.

It was founded in London, but I don't think it was ever classed as a British brand.
Well the main founder Wilsdorf was German, and originally he and his partner Alfred Davis only assembled unbranded watches made from imported parts. They moved to Switzerland by ww1 I think.
Not surprising at all. Fleming wore a Rolex. So Bond wore a Rolex. Many of Bond’s stylistic quirks came straight from his creator.
I think that when Bond first wore the Rolex in the novels, it being an underwater watch in LALD, Fleming didn't yet have one. I think it wasn't until OHMSS that he had his Rolex Explorer.
There was even a reader who sent him a letter asking why he referred to it as an Oyster Perpetual and not a specific model or something.
I seem to be circulating round the watch box at the moment, which is undergoing some changes, gone are the sf po le earlier this year and the 8900 po chronograph which I bought for diving, wore on holiday a bit but just didn't love. And here is a Speedmaster moonwatch this week, and a PO 42mm 8500 with a matte black ceramic dial being negotiated this coming week. Puts me back up to a full 10 watch display case. My deville has gone on a blue crocodile strap and the matte black lizard strap now sits on the 1967 SM300 165.024
Good looking watch, the dial and bezel are almost more anthracite than black, looks great against the Ti
It's my birthday coming up in early November and it's my intention to buy myself a PO 232.30.42.21.01.001, one has come up, 5 years old in good condition for just about the right money ( I will have to add to my watch fund slightly) The deal is yet to be done, so hopefully it's not sold before I'm ready.
Well being only 23 found a total steal on eBay.
Came with the rubber and stainless steel bracelets.
Just ordered the Spectre NATO! It might not be a Rolex or omega but hey it works for me and feels very Bondian.
I have this same watch! It's my "When Traveling Abroad" -watch. I stopped wearing pricier time pieces while traveling, when München airport security dropped one of my vintage pieces back in 2007. X-( X-( X-( "Sorry sir, you have to move along sir" "But, but, you BROKE IT!!!" "Calm down sir, move along sir" "But I haven't collected all the pieces yet! Who is your supervisor!?" "Let's not make scene, "sir""
When put on a German high polish mesh bracelet, it looks nice enough for me to worry, that some ars3 h0l3 will steal it, not knowing its true monetary value!

Good luck! right now I have this in steel if I want the same look with a little more weight
Steel or TI its a great looking watch and of course very SF!
Cheers :007)
My name is Bond, Basildon Bond - I have letters after my name!

It's been on my hitlist for a while now, but I struggled with justifying another black PO, I always loved the bezel on the skyfall le but just couldn't get on with the 007 indices at 7 o clock so it just never got wrist time, so with one gone I've got space for a new one
Also in my collection having 2 SM300 Co ax they have a glossy bezel as does the po Ti so this new one sits in there nicely.
That looks very nice, actually but it's no Speedy-Tuesday.
Anyway, I found a great compromise between a Seamaster and an Aqua Terra. The Seamaster 120s from the 60s and 70s.
A clean, thin design with the design of a diver at the size of a dressier watch.
Ticking all the boxes for a nice smaller substitute for when I do get the PO.
Any thoughts on what watches for 25? Assume will be Omega they seem to like connection ambassadors etc as do Tag Heuer. Do Rolex I can recall as a kid being hugely impressed with an ad for Frederick Forsyth's Rolex.
Going through Omega app they have a huge range.they haven't had a seamaster diver since CR perhaps one in black. Craig seems to like the dressier watches e.g. AT so perhaps a constellation?
Also be interested to see how many feature

I think we will see more than one watch, seeing how well the SM300 coax le did there will definitely be another limited edition, it's also become a bit of a tradition. For some reason I have an inkling we might see a Speedmaster, and that's not just because I've just bought one, Dc has been wearing one a lot recently, I think it's a Tuesday, also I think the at will feature in some sort of guise, possibly on a different nato to the black and grey. I can't see them using a PO unless the deep blue features but by then that watch will be a few years old. And I can't see the smp returning either.
It seems in omegas set up Clooney takes care of the Speedmaster and Dc the seamaster ranges, the constellation seems to get aimed at the ladies market with mainly female actresses and sports stars being their ambassador. I truly hope the Commander doesn't feature in any way
I hope they return to a classic (and more affordable watch).
How about the SM300 Diver? They would obviously update the design but it'd be nice to see it again on Bond's wrist.
If I could make a suggestion, it would be to remove the helium escape valve to make it slightly more desirable.
I´m curious. What do you think needs to be updated on the current design? I think the "new" ceramic SMP looks great as it is. And IMHO, the helium escape valve is part of the watch´s iconic look. But I might be biased.....

Not biased but correct, and the helium escape valve is loved by collectors. Omega have many watches to choose from without it.

Someone more knowledgable will probably lay out the specifics.

Not sure if it will resurface as I think I read Daniel say he didnt feel like it was “his” watch due to Brosnan
But I struggle with my current Speedy that always gets pushed out for a P.O or 2!
