Shouldn’t be a problem just in a bezel insert though. It’s small and recessed.

Don‘t put too much hope into matte ceramic.

I have a Ceramic IWC and every contact with metal leaves traces in the material which can‘t be easily wiped off

I am afraid that making bezels matte will lead to a similar issue.

If that's the case, you'll lose the main attraction of the ceramic bezel insert in the first place: a durable (relatively) and blemish free insert.

    That‘s why I‘ve mentioned it.

What a great piece. The 5513 and 1680 have to be my favorite subs.

As an aside, I decided to give License Renewed a look. For whatever reason, Gardner is the only Bond author I’ve never read. Turns out I like it quite a bit. But his choice of a “gold Oyster Perpetual” for Bond is a puzzling one. Could he mean a Datejust with a white gold fluted bezel? Surely Bond isn’t wearing a yellow gold day date?

    I don‘t like 5513s at all.
I was practically forced at gunpoint to buy one and it‘s still in my collection

It’s the nicest Sub ever made.

No, the nicest Sub by far is the 6538 with Explorer dial :p

I would vote for a submariner 6200 (only 200 pieces produced)

Full on vintage today. The original and best, and the model that would have been issued to Bond in the Sixties/early Seventies.

Lovely Asp 9mm, mine is my most treasured watch and possibly possession, as it was my grandfather's. The unique and quite loud ticking these watches make always takes me back to my childhood. Now if only it had a broad arrow /pheon I wouldn't keep looking at the NTTD smp.

Being new to this area of the forum, I thought I'd stumbled upon the seamier side of this website: an entreaty to 'Watch Porn [on] Wednesday' sort of like Clap for Carers... (but lasting a bit longer perhaps)

Depends what you like, what you’re going to use it for (smart/business/casual) and what other watches you have.
Personally, I much prefer the Seamaster. Having said that, I think the black version is more versatile and looks much smarter and more expensive.

I think the Skywalker novelty would wear off quick

Would be the Seamaster for me. Traditional and classic Bond, but as Uncle suggests, the black version looks better than the blue IMHO.

I could see Roger wearing the Skywalker in Moonraker though, so for that alone, it's a cool watch! :)

You just need to ask yourself which would you wear more? which would you get more use from? I doubt you'll be going to space anytime soon and you can't go swimming in the Skywalker. The Seamaster will look classier on the wrist and better with a nice suit or black tie. You can wear the Seamaster for water sports.

I would prefer the traditional Speedmaster over the Skywalker.

You'll never regret getting the Seamaster Diver 300m.

    You may regret the Skywalker.

If you really like the "space" theme i'd recommend going for the Omega Speedmaster (that one has been to the moon) over the Skywalker. You'd also never regret that.

I vote Seamaster. The new one has actually grown on me quite a bit. And while I agree that the black is probably more versatile, the blue is striking and obviously the more Bondian choice.

Finally after weeks of sitting in the box the jewelry stores have opened. First place I went was to get this sized. My SKX007 now has some competition in the watch box. Really loving this one!

Nice, I applaud your courage! When I had the itch to buy something new to add in to my watch box next to compete with my SKX007, I went for the 009! I didn't want stray too far from the family.... :))

For years I've had my beater 2531.80 on the Spectre nato. But I saw a decent looking Milanese on Amazon for $10 and thought I'd see how I like the look before investing in a nicer one. I gotta say I really like it.

Is there a consensus closest-to-Omega's Milanese strap I can buy?
  • ChriscoopChriscoop Belize Posts: 10,458MI6 Agent
Milenese mesh straps have been around for a long time, proper ones should be hand made in Milan, but I doubt even the new Omega one is, I've always preferred them over the shark mesh tbh, but both look good IMHO.
