Very cool! I just bought my first Hamilton a couple of days ago, the Khaki Field Auto Chrono, and I’m now seriously considering the PSR as well—such a awesome retro look!

Without wishing to open any debate about fake watches, this is a very interesting and informative article showing just how good the ‘replicas’ are becoming. These watches could easily be passed off and sold as genuine watches.

I decided I'm all but done with buying watches online after this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8izNCg4-mgc

The fakes are just too good now.

You would be happy with a fake? Or rather not be seen with something mistaken to be a fake

Or just get affordable watches that tell the time, look good, and aren't likely to be copied.

Heh. I only wear two types of watches: my Bond Omegas or my Apple Watch during workouts/chores/the pool/grocery store runs, etc. I'm not particularly worried about fake Apple Watches. So I'll continue ordering those online.

Not at all. The idea of owning a fake makes my stomach flip. It's gross. I'm only going through ADs or Omega directly is what I meant.
  • emtiememtiem SurreyPosts: 5,936MI6 Agent
Yeah it certainly shows that buying a pre-owned watch like that is fraught with risk now.

Excellent fakes will probably drive folks toward the full retail of the boutiques. It's a conspiracy! :))

What watch stands/boxes are people using day to day? I have to switch between my SMP and my everyday smartwatch quite often.

'Twas delivered this morning. My first Hamilton and first chrono! Always wanted an Omega DSOTM style watch (but not ready to drop DSOTM level money let) and this works great.

Also, a secondary thing, I really like the Hamilton wooden box...that will be heading to the back of the cupboard to join the all the other watch boxes.

Decided to finally pull the trigger on a Spectre. Now I'm rocking a two watch collection of the Rolex 16710 GMT Master II and this. I haven't had an Omega in awhile but nice to have one in the collection. Truly a stunning watch and the perfect blend of modern and vintage. I was considering getting the new watch from NTTD but I think this is the better looking watch. I like the base DNA of the 1957 Seamaster more than the much more Rolex inspired base of the Brosnan Seamaster. I feel this watch is quintessential Omega but retains a lot of the charm Connery's sub had.

Funny enough, the lower beat rate of the co-axial movement suits this watch more with its vintage aesthetic. I actually like the slightly less smooth sweep. GMT features are a useful and nice addition, especially the jumping hour hand. I love using a diving bezel as a timing feature and this watch works perfect for that, so I'm not losing sleep over missing the traditional diving bezel. In fact, the bi-directional function makes it even more practical for timing stuff. Incredibly easy to just multiply each number on the bezel by 5.

Extremely legible watch. I don't buy my watches as simply fashion and luxury accessories. I plan on really using this watch. One really nice touch that I absolutely love about the watch is the 3-6-9 Explorer dial. It harks back to Fleming's explorer and what is presumed to be the original book Bond's watch. I have always liked the aesthetic and now I have it.

Has anyone any thoughts or pulled the trigger on one these watches?

    www.atelierjalaper.com/

An interesting story and great ambition. I think they're very nice looking watches, hopefully well put together and obviously the whole DB5 bonnet aspect is very cool, but a pretty standard movement inside and is it all just too gimmicky? As we've seen before with other watch brands placing pieces of automotive and aviation history into timepieces.

In any case, the guys seem genuinely passionate so I hope it works out for them.

Thanks for sharing, that's new to me. I quite like the design too: original and modern but with a good retro nod- I like the numerals. Reminiscent of car instruments but not just a copy.
The business about chopping up a bonnet I can take or leave. I'm a car fan so frankly I'd rather see it on a car.

It's funny, speaking of new(ish) watch brands: I was looking into Farer who I think make some really nice watches, and saw a photo of the founders and realised I had worked with one of the guys at an agency not too long ago. And then again recently I happened to get some work at another agency, which it turned out is being run by this chap, and he and his partners run Farer out of that agency! They make some really nice stuff and it's always a pleasure to go back to them.

I was just looking at Farer a few days ago! :)) Really nice watches. Cool website (which given the guy's background makes perfect sense). Nice touch that each watch purchase means a donation is made to a very worthwhile cause. I also like that these watches, as well as the atelierjalaper ones are all numbered limited editions and you can choose your number.

Finally had the chance and the confidence to put my PO on the rubber OEM (after I lost the very same watch last year on a trip). Replaced thanks to a AJB and got the strap as a Xmas present to myself (only take me 6 months to fit it)

    Cheers :007)

I'm overly sentimental about my watches. When I look at them I see the things I did while wearing them. Weddings, vacations, great dates, etc. I know it's long over and you've since replaced it but I'm sorry that happened, man.

And is that the QoS PO or the CR 45mm? Either way that strap always looks good.

Thanks I didn’t think I was sentimental until I lost one. The circumstances of loosing my buddy of 10 years (of which we had been through many scraps together and even operational tours) is still raw even today nearly a year later, frankly I was gutted.

But thanks to AJB I was fortunate to make a quick recovery.

So you have no choice but to move on, start again with a new set of memories. It is what it is.

I don’t think you can beat the OEM rubber!

It’s the QOS PO, I could not pull off the 45mm :D

But that said looks like without thinking I went very Casino today

Loving this watch. It's going to be a total daily for me. The 16710 will be used for a pop of color but this watch is just so understated. This is a weird point but I actually enjoy the slower beat rate. It makes the watch feel like an actual vintage diver. Omega really nailed a mix of a modern and vintage watch with this one. Best Bond Omega for sure.

Best part of the watch is easily the lollipop hand. Makes the watch and it is a unique element that separates it from the herd.

I own this watch for almost 2 years and since then, this had by far the most wristtime from all my watches.

The combination of Ceramic Casing ( I manage to get rid of the metal rub marks un the meantime) and Ti caseback and buckle makes it incredibly comfortable to wear.

Visually, I‘d prefer the layout with the additional Chrono counter at 9 but those are all based on the Valjoux 7750 architecture.

What you see is the true own IWC movement with the 70 hrs power reserve.

I‘d buy this watch again on any given day!
