Well, Chris came out with that indirect implication, mentioning that there would be no negativity if they where coming from Switzerland....

And they have deceivingly and intentionally called their movement „inhouse“ while knowingly buying them from La Joux-Perret.

That‘s not „one dumb comment“ like you say.

I'm simply stating that I personally don't understand the amount of abuse that Bremont get from so many sources, when they've done nothing any worse than other luxury watch brands and those other brands like Tag haven't received the same ire ! I have my favoured watch makers and Bremont isn't one of them, but I certainly find the abuse strange, especially as the company have such good charitable work with the British armed forces charities 🤷 Archie's sniping has a lot to do with the brothers position in life! At the end of the day if the watches work as they should and people like the aesthetics then that's the point as long as they don't attempt to mislead anyone! They did once and that was corrected.

Well, they mislead everyone - by calling that movement being inhouse - that‘s the point.

And that‘s the reason for the negativity that they receive - also from me.

Nothing breeds hate faster than success And two young men have built up a very successful high end watch brand from nothing And their brand is getting stronger. The watch industry is very “olde” If you haven’t been around since the 1800s in some people eyes, then you don’t deserve to be selling products within the industry. Even Rolex were looked down upon as young upstarts until recently They told people were to shove it too

Higgy Bumm. No one cares. Only you. And you’re a legal moron. So nobody cares what you think either.

And it should be Breitling. I before E except after C. Everyone knows that.

So Bremont is beneath the guy and a small mistake offends, but he owns a A Langhe and BMW IWC and Seiko products, according to previous posts. Amazing.... Think those companies mistakes were slightly larger, you know in history....

But..... that’s in the past... oh wait so is the Bremont situation. But I do like that’s Tudor chrono, looks pretty sweet. No worries just pointing out the strange imo reasons why one thing is bad but can let another slide.

    Quote Asp9mm:

    >>Nothing breeds hate faster than success<<

..that from the guy who told me minutes before how much he hates rappers 😂😂

C‘mon it‘s not that easy and you well know it!

I'd bet good money that if the Bremont owners came from France or Italy with the same background and wrongdoings - many of you guys here would be less forgiving 😉 - and rightly so!

I didn’t say I hate rappers. I hate the music. Awful commercial crap spewed out. You don’t even have to be able to sing or play an instrument to be successful. And the lyrics are more violent and hate filled than any other music genre.

So, you say that much of the hate for rappers is not because people hate their success but what they do and how they do.

But when people hate Bremont, it‘s their success that they hate and not what they do and how they do?

    Interesting logic 🧐🧐

It wouldnt bother me if the owners were from Timbuktu! The products should speak for themselves! But being British it's hard to ignore the xenophobia that's so thick you could cut it with a knife! As I said earlier Tag made a very similar mistake and they haven't had a fraction of the abuse Bremont has received. As I understand it Bremont had worked with lpj to develop the movement, which although not in-house is a widely used practice. At the end of the day if you like the watch then what does it matter if the movement is lpj derived or ETA as so many watch brands have powering them.

Anyway I'll leave the Bremont story there, onto another Panerai W&W piece and one for the sailors amongst us. Pam013103 really liking the nylon straps and that they've moved the chrono controls to the left of the case which gives a cleaner look to me.

That is nice! I went off the look of Panerais for a while but I think I'm warming to them again.

  • ChriscoopChriscoop Belize Posts: 10,458MI6 Agent

Its only the last 3 years or so that I've become a big fan of Panerai tbh, I'd just overlooked them. But now I wear mine over any of my Omegas. Traditionally you needed big wrists or you wanted to make a statement but with them embracing 42mm case size across the ranges that's not necessarily the case (though 42mm is still a sizeable watch also with the crown guard bridge) even the paneristi favourite submersible bronzo has become available in 42mm as with this one below, again at watches and wonders and I do like the blue, and I think as the bronze ages the patina with the blue will look lovely.

Another designflaw on the Tudor Chronograph is their massive signature Snowflake hourhand, which very often covers the Subdials of the Chronograph to a significant degree.

Most of the Chrono makers go with slimmer main hands to avoid this.
