I got some parts from watchco also, mine was my grandfathers , had been flooded, lume dropped out of hands. the movement was fine though, sent that for service and got a new face, hands, crystal and after discovering it's not possible to pop the bezel a new case. Simply love these old Seamasters the ticking they make is unique.
thats a nice story of family history. Hope to keep mine in the family too even if in the future they only get considered as curiosities from a bygone time.
Dont wait for your ship to come in. Swim out and meet the bloody thing.

I've no doubt that the Rolex and Omega sport watches can take a beating, I just wouldn't want to shell out $8,000.00 to $10.000.00 of my hard earned dollars just to see it scratched up on the cooks tour downrange, when a Protek or G-Shock will get the job done Then I can come home and strap on that Omega all shiny and clean, ready for my date to oggle and drool over.

My 2500 po survived a drop off a third floor balcony in Spain this summer ( courtesy of my 2year old and a wife more interested in doing her hair) it held together just suffered a minor scratch to the crystal and a little lump out of the bezel knurles! Flipping good job.
In other news the qos po I bought earlier this year has failed on me, I'm now sourcing new pallets for it and at the same time swapping out the bezel insert for a ceramic version.
Unfortunately the bezel is one of the weaker parts of dive watches as they are only held on with a tension spring underneath and can be pried off easily. Scratched crystals are annoying as anything, although the newer sapphire crystals are better than the older acrylic ones, but I’ve heard that they shatter more easily.
The bezel stayed on, just has a few flattened knurles. And the scratch was at 11o'clock I've polished this and you can hardly see it. It's a better system being able to remove the modern bezels the vintage SM300 has an acrylic inset in the bezel and those you can't remove. The plexiglass crystals did scratch easy but you can Polish them up quite successfuly they're also a bugger to fit where as the modern ones can be pressed in easy enough.
Lol. Its a very bad one and looks like it came out of a xmas cracker!
Care to explain how? I mean what are the major differences or giveaways? For something that's going to sit in my cabinet and be a display item it doesn't look that bad? I don't plan on wearing it, I am slowly building up my bond prop collection so it's more of a feel good type thing to go along with my walther ppk..

It's such a bad and obvious fake that even moron like Asp 9mm instantly called it out.
It really can't get worse

I don't own a Rolex, real or fake, and I can tell the difference. To me the metal bracelet looks dull and cheap, the bezel edge doesn't have a sharp look, and the bezel insert looks cheap. Quality of typeface of bezel numbers looks wrong. The dial is OK, but not clear enough to comment and the date mag bubble is not to the right magnification.. all IMHO

The larger question is, what 007 connection should that "display" model have?
If you are serious about displaying that fake, you should at least have gone with a Submariner and not a Fakemariner Date

It was a white gold version, with polished centre links, in fact the reason I stopped wearing it years ago was that my friend came back from holiday with a terrible two tone blue bezel and face fake, and refused to not wear it. That and the noisy rotor made people think mine was fake. At one point while attending a wedding I got sat round a table 14 people round a table and 5 of the men had rolex's on the guy next to me had a Coca Cola submariner. Fortunately that day I opted for my aqua terra annual calender.
Rolex is the brand to have, but my love of omega comes from an old SM300 I inherited from my grandpa, that watch I have totally rebuilt with nos parts so it's wearable, the old parts are kept safe.
It was either that.....or the priesthood
