Only last week I saw a qos planet ocean limited edition for sale for 3650 gbp with all box and papers in excellent condition. Some of these watches are very inconsistent price wise.
What is the true current value of this watch ?
IMHO, the true value ranges between USD4'000 and 4'500.
Yes I would agree with that, the cheapest Ive seen from the qos le is 2800 gbp, the sa qos po can be had for around the 2000gbp mark. The only value in an le is for a collector or bond fan, as they are simply embellished standard models. Any newer le should by rights be worth more as the movement is "superior" that being said Im not yet completely sold on the 8500 movement purely as it's not real life time tested yet, the 2500 proved itself a robust movement, personally I find more value in the qos po as opposed the sf due to the laser etching on the crystal and the walther grip inspired face.
Having parted with my Seamaster 300 a while back when starting my business I'm now looking to buy a new watch (start up is going well
Half my original post vanished......
I'm thinking either a used QoS era PO (42mm, 13mm thick, 2500 movement) or a brand new Seamaster 300 Professional (41mm, 11mm thick - NOT the master co-axial Spectre watch). Price is roughly the same as I can get the Seamaster tax free. I've tried both on and like them both - views of owners of these watches would be welcomed.
Thanks

Some unlucky person will end up with a genuine movement inside a fake watch
I was amazed how Omega really created the SMP and PO. They are both dive watches like the Rolex Submariner, but they had innovative and distinctive differences and cool details that set them apart from the Sub. Both where bolt watches with balls!
With the AT, they simply played it safe.
They almost copied verbatim the Rolex Datejust with the smooth bezel (which is imo one of the most boring Rolex watches).
If you put a crown logo on the AT at 12', noone would see that it's an Omega.
I find both the old Airking and the Datejust mousy and streamlined to an "Average Taste" with no edges and thus with not much character.
It may be suitable for a boring and insecure person like Asp9mm who always plays it safe in his cave, but it's not something that I could really passionately love. It's infact so boring that I even can't really hate it
This is just my opinion, of course.

I bought my blue SMP 300 in 2013 and I haven't regretted it one moment. When I was shopping for a new watch I had it narrowed down to an Oris Aquatis, a Rolex Submariner, a Planet Ocean (big size 2500) or the SMP 300 with ceramic bezel. I was never a big fan of the “old” SMP with the wave dial, although it is an iconic watch, especially for Bond fans that grew up with Brosnan. However, the new SMP with its clean dial and quieter look felt just right.
After trying all 4 watches the choice was easy, I couldn’t see myself wearing a Rolex, The Planet Ocean wasn’t versatile enough for me, the Oris felt like a bad alternative and I just fell in love with the SMP. It is on my wrist while typing this and will be there, hopefully, for years to come. The strange thing is, I thought this would be the start of an expensive hobby (like my guitars and bass guitars) but I have never had that “this is the one” experience in a watch store since.
Whatever you choose, make sure you try each and every watch you are considering because a watch you might love in the shop window might not work for you in real life. Good luck with choosing your watch and I hope you wear it in good health and it will see many adventures and good times in your life.

That's really helpful, thanks for the advice. I am veering toward the black faced SMP - will try both on again shortly.

Wow...very nice...can you do the same shot with your Hulk Rolex?
Higgins, what is it that you dislike so much about the AT? I'll admit that it is not my favourite but it is growing on me (the SF version anyway).
