Wow Holden, is that left one really a 42mm too? It looks so much bigger than the one on the right! I always thought that if I'd ever get a PO I would buy the larger one but seeing how big the new ceramic PO is in 42mm I might have to change my mind.
Yep, both are 42mm. In the first photo, because the ceramic version is taller, it's closer to the camera lense, so probably looks a bit bigger than it does in real life. But, it is chunkier and the bracelet is thicker too. Has a bit more 'wrist presence', but too thick to wear with a suit now, IMO. I can see why Craig wanted a Ti version for the PTS action scenes in Skyfall and why the AT was used for the rest of the film.
Just to elaborate my beef with the current Explorers.
At first it's always good how the real deal looks like.
Assuming that Fleming meant an Explorer* with the description (OHMSS: luminous numerals)
the dial looked like that back in the day:
Now a long time ago, Rolex decided to bring whitegold surrounds for the lume on their watches but imo with the Explorer they went too far! No lume in the numerals at all!
That takes away all the charm and tradition with the Explorer. Instead of using impractical solid whitegold numerals which don't glow at all and look too bling, they should at least have done it like that:
* could have also been a 369 Submariner

Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
Bonds watch could have been any number of things. The sports watches were'nt the only ones with expanding bracelets and glowing numerals. Speedkings, Datejusts, Dates, Non-dates all had these options to name just a few.
As for the new Explorer. Times change, get over it dumbass. The whole range of Rolex tool/sports watches have wandered from the path. It happened when Rolex went from a high end watch manufacturer to a status symbol.
Oh, and you'll be happy to note that I scratched my watch up with the Sebenza blade when taking that picture. Luckily it wasn't the other way around. Bond should use a Sebenza.

Oh I get over it that things change! You are the hermit - not me
But Rolex could have changed into something ok (like in my last pic) or totally crap - which is what they did! 8-)

Dell Deaton says so in his never-ending viral selfpromotion but there is no real substance to his claim.
And the watch (Rolex Explorer) that he celebrates to be his "discovery" was shown in an exhibition in London for an entire year and Bond fans have seen and recognized it.
But it seems, that there are enough people who take his word as gospel - until they discover AJB and the watch experts here

They are even nicer with the new bracelets with screws in the links as opposed to the old friction pin crap.

Means the Submariner is the king of all dive watches - great watch. B-)
Is it a 16800 matte dial with a later insert, or a 16610?
Wow that's crazy
