New Bond/Aston Martin book

Hi all ajb007 users

I have a quick question for you all. Would a book where Aston Martin visits famous Bond locations be of any interest for Bond fans?
Book would include beautiful pictures of Aston Martins at exact same locations (in Europe) as in the movies, and of cause a lot more, but all in the name of Bond/Aston Martin and locations.

    It would be of interest for sure...I assume you are aiming at a 'coffee table' type book...obviously the price point is crucial...

    The book would be around 200-250 pages, and would be as you say a "coffee table book". The idea would be a numbered hardback copy at a price of 80 GBP and cheaper softback copy at 35-40.

    I think you would struggle to shift copies at that price point...but good luck -{

    What would you say would be a fair price for such a book?

    In my opinion... for what it's worth... I'm happy to part with cash to buy a book with Bond in it, particularly photos of Bond i haven't seen before from the films, or on some other aspect about Bond's character or exploits, and frequently books on the literary Bond.

    Books about locations and books on Astons are secondary, to be honest, in my view. So I may part with my cash but wouldn't go too mad, as Sir Miles says. Some of the book clearance warehouses often have Bond books that had limited initial appeal and high initial release prices, and I'm sure you'd want to avoid that potential risk...

    Nevertheless, good luck, it's good to hear of any Bond- related projects in the works. -{

    Well good to get inputs and honest opnions, thanks - that´s why i´m posting :)
    So what I hear, is that if there would be more Bond and less of other "stuff", the appeal is higher?

    Perhaps the odd map showing the route taken to the various Bond locations
    might help sell the book to fans.

    There aren't that many locations where an Aston appears, so I can't see it being that interesting. Hi Def pictures are available everywhere of THE actual Astons being filmed and from the film footage itself. So I can't see a generic Aston of any model being shot in the same location (most of which don't exist anymore as they were) at the proposed price point or at all when it comes to that. As a money making scheme. You'll be looking at a loss.

    Pictures of THE actual Aston isn´t the idea of the book. Not presenting the hole concept, but only saying that the location photos of the places (as they are now) with and without an Aston and pictures to compare from the movies. Visiting other Bond spots, where there wasn´t an Aston represented, could be an idea. I´m picking up what everybody have to offer to get it interesting and worth while.

    What you need is an angle...or gimmick, if you will...and something like this sounds like it will cost a fortune to set up. I seriously doubt you could even hope to break even...nice idea though it is...

    Then why pitch it as you have, with the Aston as the idea?

    The revenue and custom just isn't there to make it successful. With or without Aston's as the main objective.

    The idea of the book would be NEW pictures of locations and some with an Aston in it. I´m not saying pictures of THE Aston is not gonna be in it, but it will not be the main part of it. I hear you and are thankful for the feedback.

    Sounds like a nice idea, but you aren't going to sell many copies...and even fewer at the price points you mentioned...you will hemorrhage money with this...such a small book run will cost quite a bit of money on its own...sorry to be so negative.

    Not sure if its been done (since the info is free on the internet and great members here) but a location of Bond / travellers guide book thing would be cool.

    All the places in the films (many of course not where they supposed to be) and what remains left / comparison pics of "Then & Now"

    Like I said above - not sure if its been done but certainly similar things been done on this forum and elsewhere (the great Thunderball trips to the Vulcan site, Largos house, Casino Royale locations, I remember Markus's great article on visiting Scarmangas Islands etc history of the old London clubs that no longer exist that Bond frequented etc in books and movies)

    Of course this would require a top dollar "Top Gear" Style budget so prob unrealistic for a niche market book!!!

    Would be great to have a comprehensive glossy book with stunning pics and interviews etc from owners, film crews and what to do and get there etc

    Do you have a publisher in mind? Or are you looking to self publish....

    As someone who does this for a living (and owns a publishing company) I would be happy to either help, give suggestions, or answer any questions you may have.

    All I can say, from your initial idea, is that this will not be a cheap venture....and you would be hard pressed to break even, let alone make any money.

    While I don't own them, I have seen the Bond's London book, and it was good but a glossier high-en coffee-table book with more photos would be great.

    Of course, the hardback, high end, glossy coffee table version of any of the above takes the price up significantly.

    And, sadly, reduces the market considerably which, I suspect, the various authors were aware of.

    Remember, however much we like to fool ourselves, much Bond fandom - beyond the usual re-heat books on the films history - is pretty nichy.

    I don´t have a publisher in mind, but a great deal in place for the financing. I would love to send you a mail if possible.

    It surely comes down to how you can market it and to whom... I like the idea of those nice 1960s style Aston Martin adverts you got and are for sale at Visimag in Soho, but of course colour glossy photos bump the price up.

    The Aston takes two trips in GF, one in the book through France ending at Geneva, the other in the film, starting at Geneva I think and heading through Switzerland via The Italian Job route. So that would be interesting, then you have the Bratislava/Vienna route in TLD and of course the route to SF lodge in Skyfall.

    But too much Bond stuff might make the book a bit nerdy really. This is surely for luxury purchasers wearing their cool on their sleeve.
