Casino Royale L/S polo in Venice

Hi all

Does anyone know who made the LS navy blue polo worn during the Venice / Bank / Vesper dies scene ???

Sunspel have a very similar looking one and given they made the polos and tees I wondered if this was it that's worn over the grey melange Tee ???

Believe it is still a mystery, Sunspel denied was them.

The material looks quite coarse / rugged compared to Sunspel also

I think we can agree on this one that it might have been custom made, like the Madagascar shirt. John Smedley also denied (If I'm correct) that it was them, so we can either look for something that was in stores back in 2006 from other companies, which is near to impossible now, or we can decide to create a replica.

I could be wrong here, but I think it is a rugby shirt, looking from the buttons and collars, and I think it could be Hackett.

I saw a top a few years ago which was a plain navy blue rugby top but with a raised logo for the Oxford/Cambridge boat race - gutted I didn't get it but it was virtually identical including the buttons!!

Pity Hackett haven't redone anything similar

I dont think its custom as its not anything special pattern wise etc

Or maybe it was Tom Ford? )

The label Tom Ford clothing are introduced in 2007, so it's absolutely impossible to be Tom Ford

I am sure it is a rugby shirt. The reason behind my reasoning is that the buttons have a double placket - just like a rugby shirt.

I think that this is where we should concentrate our searching efforts.

Knew it wasn't screen accurate but the Sunspel arrived and it is very nice indeed. Looks as near as dammit to Venice one. Just need to find some slightly darker trousers now !

It has a fly placket which hides the button. The placket doesn't go all the way down the front, it only opens at the top like a polo shirt. It only appears to have one button in the middle of the placket, but it may have an unconventional placket at the top of the placket that doesn't button through. We only see one buttonhole. I thought I'd read somewhere that Sunspel did indeed make it just for the film but it wasn't one of their stock items. I may be wrong....

Definitely not. Sunspel LS have a fine gauge, this one has a jersey quality... Ted Baker did similar at the time but i never found the colour or details

I did buy the sunspel equiv however and it makes for a nice alternative

This shirt has driven me nuts for a long time! How can the Dior "Mr White" jacket (of which there were 20 made) be ID'd but a simple long sleeve polo has eluded us for 10 years?! I'd love to track this one down!

Probably because its a standard unbranded polo which there are millions of in the world. Unlike the Dior which was ID'd due to its Dior characteristics (shoulder mark stitching and Dior buttons)
