This would have been a nice addition to the collection. It was the development car for the Esprit Turbo, and used by Pinewood Studios as a 'colour swatch' for the coming production of ' For Your Eyes Only'. MPW 71W was chosen to be painted Copper Metallic. It was decided that it was most suitable and a Copper Lotus Esprit registration OPW 678W appeared in the film.

Would be great to see some more pics from the evolution process - particularly with some Bond people.
Does anybody have an idea how much the car sold for?

I actually saw it for sale on pistonheads.com, but the car sold for £19.995, and the link is now gone. The above link is for when the car first went under the hammer at auction earlier- again for around £19k, I think.

That car doesn't have the early Compomotive wheels anymore (admittedly, that could have been changed already while still a Lotus development car), and the stripes have been redone incorrectly (too thick or spaced too closely).


I can't put my finger on it but somehow I like the white one better.
