Well the 50th year of bond has come and gone , sky fall was fantastic but what else did we get ? Music wise a double cd of stuff everyone all ready has, to be honest what a bunch of crap , ,unreleased music -lost tapes - its bollocks -its not lost its sat on a shelf -dr no -frwl-gold finger -plus all the un expanded soundtracks all sat on a shelf -so its about time it all became available -the dr no score not monty normans **** the proper score its on a shelf somewhere lets have it on cd !

We've been waiting for decades for some of this stuff, and the 50th anniversary was the perfect reason to release it... if it was (a) available and (b) financially viable.
It didn't happen, and sadly I think that someone decided that yet another compilation (cheap and easily marketable) was the way to go in preference to digging out old tapes and mastering them for release (expensive and limited market).

A real pity, if the unreleased stuff does exist, that there seems to be no intention to dig it out and restore it to the soundtrack albums. Maybe that will change one day, but I'm not holding my breath.

That's the official line for some of the material. Some others are known to exist but haven't been made available since the execs feel the potential profit isn't high enough.
An example would be the 2003 reissue of the TB album. There are still a few unreleased pieces of music from the score, but including them would have required a double album release. This was not allowed. The cues wouldn't have been very long, but the extra room could have been taken up with the two vocal versions of MKBB (had record company politics not prohibited that) plus alternates (such as "Bond Meets Domino").

Hello ajb007'ers, I'm in the states and I don't know if it was a tie in to the 50 yrs of Bond media or how widespread this is, but any kind of new-used record-cd-dvd-game store that carries fresh vinyl lp's has great looking re-issues of some Bond movie soundtracks--I have seen Dr. No, Goldfinger, From Russia, Live and Let Die, some may be on 180 gram vinyl.

Don't know about UK and other parts of the world, but vinyl has been resurging here in US and apparently re-issues and prestige releases by White Stripes, Radiohead, are selling in the millions of units again, and there's a nifty Bond like turntable in a suitcase, carry around unit, that is popular, especially with 20-30 somethings who are rediscovering this stuff. And they like to see young Sean on LP covers with girls just like the old days.

Even here in South Africa, music shops are now stocking a little selection of vinyl reissues (mostly 180g I think). They tend to be classic and popular stuff such as The Beatles, Rolling Stones etc. I haven't seen any soundtracks at all, but it sounds like a great idea rereleasing them on vinyl. As an aside, I've recently started browsing through used records shops and started picking up the odd Bond soundtrack LP, so I've started getting a little collection going. They're nice objects to collect, especially because the cover artworks are much bigger than on CD!

Its the same in the uk vinyl is making a comeback ive already picked up a mint copy of the 10th anerversary sound track which covers from dr no till diamonds are forever its a double album with gate fold sleeve

I bought that one at the time. Some of the pieces are edited which I didn't like.

I agree barbel but I used to have it when I was 8 years old and just needed to get it again , sounds different , lots of reverb which most has been removed on the re masters good but different.its also nice to listen to it while holding the nice big cover again , its one thing I miss with cd .but cd is capable of holding lots of tracks so .....I like both.

Just finished listening to this album .its mint excellent condition. Im very happy I got this . diamonds forever and live and let die on vinyl needs to be done I think.
