Has anyone ever adequately explained how Tracy got shot through the
windscreen of the Aston when it's always supposed to be bulletproof?

I think they had the windows down. hence how Bond could talk
to the traffic cop.

As George's car was the Volante I assumed it wasn't the "specially modified" DB5, therefore wouldn't have bullet proof glass...

I believe it was the windshield that was broken, so they could not have the windows down!

As for the DBS, in "Diamonds are Forever" there was a glimpse of the Q-Lab, in which two Aston's were being modified, both were DBSs... I don't know, but basing on the absurdity level of this movie anyway (for example the fact, that Blofed did not recognize Bond, despite they've met 2 years before and it was even mentioned in the movie!) I would just leave it.

Soon there will be more conspiracy theories on Tracy than the JFK assassination.

The bullet hole was in the front windshield. Apparently Lazenby's Aston was never equipped with bulletproof glass like the DB5.

True but didn't Bunt fire more than one bullet ( see watching all
those sherlock episodes are paying off ) ) there could be a hole
in the windscreen, while she was hit by another. Maybe she was
using armour piercing bullets. )

Tracy could have been looking in Bond's glove box and accidently
shot herself,with Bond's gun. )

Some fans have questioned the direct hit from straight on, when it more likely would have been in the side of the head. However, Bunt is still spraying bullets as Blofeld drives around the corner.
It almost could line up...close enough for movie purposes anyway.

Maybe it was a "magic bullet."

Using all my brilliant CSI skills I'd formulate, ......

Tracy turned in her chair to see who was shooting
Gets hit straight on
Her body jerks back to a sitting position
Another bullet punches a hole through the windscreen.

All while Bond stands there scratching himself. ) " back and to the left !, back and to the left !"

That scene has always baffled me. I think some of the people got it straight on. I think you might just be over thinking the death itself.

This one belongs in the "Niggles" thread. Bunt was still firing as Blofeld drove past Bond's car, so the fatal bullet came through the windscreen (windshield on this side of the pond ) and hit her in the forehead. It's a little awkward, but hardly a major glitch. And the camera shot of Tracy through the fragmented glass is effective.

Bond had a crappy marriage and lost much in the divorce so had Q send Frau Bunt back in time
to terminate Tracy. Or am I getting confused with another movie. )

The Bullet went through the Windscreen and into Tracy's Head.

According to the pre- Craig/EON timeline, the AM's were replaced by Q each time a new one came out. The DBS was supposedly the replacement for the DB5, so it should have had all it's armour. Doubt if M would let Bond drive around without it being armoured while trying to find Blofeld - another reason I had trouble with Bunt firing a hole through the windscreen. Whatever shot Tracy was hit with, the hole is there in the glass, and from the way they filmed it, it's clearly edited to make it appear that was the shot that got her. In fact, it appears to be the only bullet hole in the windscreen.

Guess we'll have to put this down in the same file along with Goldfinger spending all that time and effort to off Solo, only to have to extract the gold
from the crushed car, when he could have just gassed him along with all the other gangsters.
