Sir Miles was the loon - merging 2 threads without really merging them 8-)

As explained...you can't 'merge' them...only tag one onto the other...should have just shut one thread down...

Higgins old chap. I stand corrected :s

Yes, I do read other's posts, even yours. However, not always in the right order.

I have completely revised that post since spending the last few hours reading about bloody gauss, date windows and soft iron, when I really should be working. Damn AJB :(
I have of course with some thanks to you now evolved and revised my earlier limited understanding of "anti-magnetic" watches.

    Thoughts on this?
    http://www.omegawatches.com/collection/seamaster/aqua-terra-150-m/presentation/seamaster-aqua-terra-15000-gauss
No soft iron cages needed here.

And this review? http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/122158-omega-seamaster-aqua-terra-anti-magnetic-watch-stops-time-for-no-one It does looks pretty bloody nice, and like a great Bond option I reckon. Classier than the blue AT in SF.

Of course I absolutely appreciate your earlier points about the early "Made in England" claims etc. and like you I find paying another £15-20,000 for a snippet of old cloth something for others to worry about or enjoy... and actually to afford LOL. Those gimmicks or customisations are certainly not my style. :#

Prost und Zum Voll. Now back on topic please :-) and that includes you Higgins. {[]
Oh and watch Kingsman: The Secret Service. It might soften you up with Bremont ;) as a design house at least :-)

Right it is back to work for me, I have about three lost hours to catch up on.

If you like the aviation Theme, check IWC, Zenith and others - if you want to diffrentiate slightly from the car-dealers (80% of them are still wearing fakes in my experience) - get a Sea Dweller 4000 or a GMT.

Omega is still a very good alternative to Rolex, though I don't really like that blue AT in SF.

But you won't get my blessings for buying a Bremont ;)

    I did try to sneak a GMT onto the shopping list, but my lady insists it looks just like my trusty Seiko Divers, so... :D I accept your kind offer of a Sea Dweller 4000 :D My birthday is in April -{

Additionally I am sure you are more than correct about the Rolex fakes on the wrists of most car dealers too.

Right, no more... no more... I am getting a headache. Have a great week.

    Re. The Omega 15000 Gauss:

I've stated in my previous post:

"or all moving movement parts must be amagnetic." It should read "or all fast moving parts..." and that's why the AT 15000 Gauss does not need a soft iron cage. I personally like the watch.

Personally I feel Omega messed up on the PO 8500 (Too Big & Clunky).

I agree, I tried one on and I felt it sat far too high on my wrist, also the lugs seemed oddly straight. The whole thing just looked ugly when it was actually on me.

I went for a Breitling Superocean 42 instead, which fit perfectly. Whilst not keen on it initially, I am coming round to the thought of an AT (not the horrible and gaudy Bond edition) but the regular grey dial one.

Now they have unveiled that awful SPECTRE tie-in AT, I reckon he will use an AT heavily in the film. Also either the PO or the new 300 master.

It rather cheeses me off that because of "product placement" he now uses two different watches for each film (with the exception of QoS I think). Just pick one and stick with it...

    Very nice watch Spoff. Congrats -{

Agree with you in that I also wish they only used one watch. It's just a marketing excercise. For me, James Bond has ONE watch. It's an all-rounder and can be adequately worn skiing down a mountain, diving off a reef, and in the casino later the same evening. I don't think Bond would swap around his watches.

I totally agree with you, also I think it would be good for DC to use his watch as a knuckle duster as I read Bond does in one of the books. We have not seen that done yet, and Hinx will be tough to put down!

I think it would be a nice touch. Although people would probably complain t was "too violent".

Totally agree. I love that paragraph in OHMSS. But I could never bring myself to do that with my Planet Ocean :o I think I'd rather just try and succeed with my bare knuckles than risk my watch! Very unbondlike I know.. :))

Then the first time, someone got hit in the mouth with a watch, Bond
Would be getting the blame for setting the example. :# Years ago

That's right. I think I remember watching at the time how menacing and evil he was. Just the right attributes for a good Bond Villain, and yet somehow in TWINE he'd lost that gritty edge..??

To be Honest, I think with the Brosnan Bonds, they were always playing it safe.
Almost too safe at times. Not until CR did they have the confidence or decide
to take the gamble of really shaking up the series.
Could you imagine Carlyle in a Tarantino Directed CR. ;)

There's no risk to the watch. My Speedmaster can take quite a beating, and I'm sure your Planet Ocean is at least as tough. It would be pretty safe to use it as a knuckle duster against anyone except Jaws.

Wouldn't even attempt punching Jaws. A quick kick in the knackers and leg it would be my plan of action.. :D

Yep, you just know it...It's such a shame that some d*ckhead in real life does the same thing and popular entertainment gets the blame for "inciting it", as if this idiot had no choice but to follow the example on the screen.

Just watched the video, I am 90% sure that the mark 1 eyeball is seeing a NATO strap on the watch, though it's unclear on teh freeze frame capture, you'll have to be the judge of that yourselves.

Really difficult to tell but could be the Gauss on a black NATO

Yep, very difficult, to the naked eye it looked stripes/ NATO strap lines. This could be teh light bouncing of the strap though. Hmmm, time will tell.

Now assuming he's not changed it since he crashed in the plane. In that scene it looked a fairly large watch. A NATO wouldn't make it look that big. Curveball, new PO on rubber. Has been seen before. That picture is just too blurry. If anyone has the ability to enhance photos try that?
