Blimey... That was quick....
£20 mil for the lot ( well perhaps excluding the horrible fake dresses and mannequins )
How about an ajb project to find the right home for the collection and how to make it pay for itself?
Of course dezer's miserable failure pays the ultimate homage to the barbicans decision to snub the USA totally so far in the DES-007 tour.... 8-)
All in all can't say I'm surprised.... When I went I had big Bill B with me and I was thankful we were "ready" for anything....

Now I wonder if I can get him to put the DB5 from Goldeneye on layaway for me...
Although its a shame it has not been successful in its current guise, I hope this means the collection might return to this side of the pond.
What with the success of the touring Designing 007 expo, I wonder if this could possibly give rise to a permanent James Bond museum in the future?
Doubt it si, last time I saw it, it was sat in the barbican outside the designing 007 exhibition....

Cheers :007)
The amount of GF DB5's must be in double figures by now )

May be your lucky day?...the exhibit at the Barbican was BMT216A, the DB5 from Skyfall. There are one or two shots on the net from above which show the ejector seat roof panel. We were not permitted to point out that little detail pre-Skyfall. You should have heard the noise it made when it was driven off its transport & positioned at the main entrance -{
Hope it is still there in early April...
I'd like to clarify a bit if by "fake dresses" you are referring to the mannequins to set a scene, like a wedding couple for OHMSS. The clothes that are marked as screen seen are all genuine.
Also, over $5 Million was spent just to renovate the 50,000 square foot space set for the Bond vehicles. I know what was paid besides that for the vehicles and additionally, for the Redenius collection exhibited within (it may not have been set up when you saw it--Bill B. told me the first time he went very little of that was up) and that is over 10,000 pieces of Bond memorabilia and there's more in storage, so... $20 Million is not that far off the mark.
Go ask him how much for cash Simon, we might pick up a bargain ) The upshot of our visit, for which I am still very grateful to you for taking us, was that it was indeed dead giving us more time to take it all in in detail. His website is listing for sale the BD-5 Microjet from Octopussy $30K or approx £20K GBP.
Apparently he paid close to £5mln, so is expecting a £15mln profit.

You only live once, live like Bond!
Its a good job we have so many experts on board with inside info and first hand authenticated information on this important topic.
My only interest in posting was to inform.
However, I'll be shaking my piggy bank just in case this publicity stunt is actually a wet towel....
And I believe I was with Bill that occasion, and I have pics to prove there were fake dresses - I may get time to dig them out over the weekend... I resisted the temptation to post them all those yrs ago so as not to put anyone off going - I was hoping it would be a success.
Oh and whether the profit is against 5 quid as rem suggests, or 12 as u suggest, it still looks like a nice little earner....
My sole interest is to inform where I'm allowed to kiss and tell. I saw the collection late in the game when Doug Redenius and his family had all their collectibles up. The only clothing there the three times I've been to the Bond area were 1) clothing Doug had in his home where PoorMan and I brought a tour bus of fans to his place to see it--all of it gifted to him by Desmond Llewelyn or EON etc. and 2) some mannequins that have clothing on them but which do NOT have any statements nearby claiming authenticity for them--the real stuff does. If you'd seen items in an earlier state, I'd like to see pictures--I'm not insulting you here--I'm just curious--and those items were likely sold to Dezer before Doug had finished his installation on the space. Bill B. is a very good friend of mine and we've been working together on Bond events, so I'm not disparaging him or you here.
The actual costs are closer to $10 Million U.S. for the vehicles, several million for the collectibles/video/advertising/maintenance staff etc. - these costs are ongoing - and $5 Million to renovate 50,000 sq. ft. of rundown warehouse - floor, ceiling, walls, video, lighting, etc. That's why we think it's a stunt - 1) $20 Million is very close to breaking even or a loss 2) these huge museums will have 50,000 sq. ft. of empty space until they put other Dezer stuff in storage out on display 3) some of the vehicles are on loan and could not be sold without negotiating with third parties, etc. 4) Oh and--I spoke with Mr. Dezer recently about buying another Bond vehicle. But I hope someone loaded comes here and offers him $30 Million for it all--good for him.
Bill Bokunic called me after your visit, disappointed that little memorabilia was on display. I don't blame him or you--it was still in an inception phase. It took the Redenius clan one full year to set up the current displays and there were months of renovations as well. Doug Redenius is one of the most respected collectors in the Bond world, has been exceptionally kind to many on this forum, and is a person of great integrity. Mr. Dezer and many of his staff have also been very kind to me, my family and the groups we've brought to the museum, therefore my posts here.
If the collection does sell, all the more reason to see it now why you can before it is split up or gone!
Well that's a lot of bodily fluid....
I have no reason to doubt your inside information and suspect the press will love reading this thread with all the juicy details; I've just sent the link to a journalist buddy of mine who's doing a piece on the dezar collection and sale. He's ecstatic.
On the Redinious linkage, I don't think I made a single comment.
My only observation was that the display I saw, admittedly in it's infancy, had some truely horrible fake dresses included and I doubt they're part of the package.
So I don't see how the thread could be left with the impression that either Mr Dezer or Mr Redinious were "less than aces" with us fans, what ever that means....
No one on here is suggesting I hope, that for someone to sell at great cost, cherished rare items gifted to them (presumably free) from Eon or more remarkably, the wonderful and frugal Mr Llewellyn, only to have said items sold on again at even greater profit only a year or so later, is in anyway not "straight aces...."
Although it's at times like these, that I begin to understand why Eon tales such a dim view of Bond collectors and their motives.
Finally, would rather know which vehicle you're negotiating on, is it the DB5 ? Oh wow...
1) Whether the sale is real or a publicity stunt you are assisting the promotion by forwarding it to journalist friends. Thanks for doing that when I neglected to do so.
2) I wrote what I wrote because most collectors know it's Doug's items in the rooms, not to mention contributions from some very good friends of mine, including very respected collectors and authors who write about Bond and spies... I might not have replied to your recent post--you are entitled to speak your mind--but I recognize that when you and Bill visited the items might not have been marked as Doug's, so I'd like to be on the record as saying that Mr. Dezer and Doug are both (or should be) respected collectors. And your recent message says, "it's at times like these, that I begin to understand why Eon tales such a dim view of Bond collectors and their motives." a) You are speaking contrary to my post to uphold their reputations, specifically stating that EON is taking a dim view because of Redenius and Dezer b) Not only does EON NOT take a dim view of collectors, they have 100% supported several charity events bringing together collectors and fans with the actors and production team members, events LED BY DOUG REDENIUS.
3) I'm not intending to fight or argue with you in any way. Again, both the Redenius family and Mr. Dezer and his staff have gone well out of their way to be courteous to me and to fellow collectors in multiple events I've led, so I want to set the record straight online. I hope we may do so together, making the peace, and the first martini (and second) is on me when I see you in person.
4) If Redenius sold the EON clothing to Dezer, and Dezer resells it later, why is that an issue? I know from my discussions with EON staff that EON has no official stance on resold memorabilia now in private hands other than tolerance, unless such memorabilia was a) stolen from the set or b) overtly conflicts with an event, say, a Christie's auction of EON items by EON for charitable purposes.
I apologize for my length. Thanks for your patience with me.
