Massive thanks to Pete and Jeff for their expertise, knowledge and skill...and most of all for their generosity in sharing everything with FE and the rest of us. FE may have been able to complete the project without them, but I have my doubts. And furthermore, without their assistance I have a strong suspicion that it would have taken a lot longer to have reached completion and the quality and accuracy would have been considerably inferior.

I received my breathers on Friday and immediately used them in the bath. From a technical perspective, they're not that good. But once I was resuscitated I had to admit that they do look very nice. At least I actually got a good set and not a potato gun or a finger-printed model.

Thanks also to FE for producing these great Bond items over the past couple of years. A big shame that this is the end - at least for now - but I will keep my fingers crossed that you'll be back with more Bond goodies at some point.

So thanks again Jeff and Pete. Your talents, tenacity and generosity are much appreciated.

I blame Ed and Donk for all this, Ed for getting me interested in projects and Donk for being so kind and giving me the breather blueprints in the first place, all though Singe is a machine monkey, to me he is special, not only is he able to make these things, he is also in to Bond, in my experience that counts, he puts his heart in to it, just not so much time :v :D

Special? As in lick the bus windows clean 'special' or 'very talented guy' special? :o

To be honest, I think this kinda thing is what makes AJB stand out from the crowd.

Not only are we all bond fans here but some lucky individuals have taken it one step further, visiting the places, meeting the stars and being involved just the bit more than others.

I class myself as an extremely lucky guy. Not only has AJB given me a place to chat, joke, insult the crap outta people and make many friends, but it's also opened a few doors and given me the opportunity to be involved with the official bond world as such and enjoy some very special privileges along the way.

Two people deserve special mention at this point, ke02eww for introducing me to Ajb in the first place and danjaq_0ff for always having the faith in me.

As for FE reaching the end of the road, well yeah that is bit of a downer, but maybe someone else will pick up the official prop torch as it were sometime in the future? Until then I guess I better dig out the old workshop and start making myself a few new additions to the collection...

    Had a very nice email from Barry at FE today, he was deeply concerned about the problem and is looking into it, and will be organising a replacement TB Breather for me -{

I would also like to say a BIG THANK YOU to a certain AJB member who offered to help me out if the problem could not be resolved -{ it's these kind of guys who make AJB a great place.

Hope you are also successful in getting your 'spud gun' replaced as well ASP9mm

Well, I got my replacement breathers today. Not good, there are the fine white misty fingerprints on one of the bulbs and brass and the tolerances are awful. Should they rattle and mouthpieces move about so much? Really really not happy now. Barry said he would include a free gift for the inconvenience. Must be thin air as there's nothing in here.

Thats really bad news :# seems like this is not an isolated problem.

what number is your set? mine is 147.

In terms of rattle my DAD breather was a bit loose, but just turned it and it tightened up.

Both were loose. The DAD was easy to tighten, but the TB version is having none of it.

    Mine is 257. I think.

My DAD was loose but easily tightened, I think the TB is fine but after a thorough visual examination when they first arrived I placed them in their display case and have only drooled on them through the case since.

Is anybody else having dramas with these things. I bought a second set which arrived today, and that has issues too.

One bulb on the TB breather is scratched and the other has a paint drip in the grey paint. The parts are so loose that they fell apart, and it seems the blue mouthpiece is just plastic, which means the small threaded screw that holds them together has nothing to bite into and will strip.

On the TB breather with the superglue on it, the superglue must have been wet when they were boxed, so the vapour has adhered to the DAD rubber mouthpiece giving it a white coating. You just can't get this stuff off. The parts are loose on this too and the mouthpiece when moves around like a propeller.

Out of the two sets, only one breather is good, a DAD one. And there aren't enough good parts overall on both TB breathers to make one decent one.

The stands are perfect though, and the whole set is very well packed, so what's going wrong?

I got nervous after reading of your woes Asp, and removed mine from the display case for a proper look. Thankfully I was much relieved to see that my TB is perfect. No issues at all. The DAD is also perfect except for being a little loose, but that was easily fixed. I am so sorry to learn of your problems...especially with two sets. Wow, talk about bad luck. This is my third purchase from FE and all three have been perfect (albeit one of those purchases was the Quantum badge which it would be hard to mess-up). I hope FE make it all up to you.

Worried now as I won't see mine for another 5 weeks, will check them out as soon as I have them. It will be a real shame if FEs final offering is not up to scratch.

On closer inspection, I discovered that one of the little fins on my DAD breather is missing - so working on resolving this now :#
