I like to think of BOND as being similar to a veteran rock band that continues to soldier on and release albums despite lineup changes and shifting musical trends. Most fans consider the first four albums the best, but the band still puts out solid records every couple years. Other fads come and go like punk, grunge, industrial, and the band does their best to adapt while staying true to their original sound.

Take Black Sabbath for example: Most rock fans are overly familiar with the first few 70's albums with Ozzy, but may have never given the 1980's albums a listen. For the more devoted fan, however, there are some real gems in the 80's such as Heaven & Hell, Mob Rules, and the Headless Cross LPs.

(yes, I prefer Dio to Ozzy)

Back to the BOND universe, there's a lot to like and rediscover about the 1980's, even if the general public was losing interest during this decade. As others have mentioned, the 80's was the golden era for action films and Bond had some stiff competition. Audiences were enamored with fresh new films like Robocop and Terminator. A few decades later after the dust has settled, some of these fine Bond films are finding an audience and finally being appreciated.

Octopussy, A View to a Kill, and The Living Daylights are all in my top 10. :)
    My current 10 favorite:

    1. GE 2. MR 3. OP 4. TMWTGG 5. TSWLM 6. TND 7. TWINE 8.DN 9. GF 10. AVTAK
