SilverFingerSilverFinger Brisbane, AustraliaPosts: 281MI6 Agent
Originally, this thread was created for one piece... The QoS Harrington Jacket ROYALE. As reviewed by David Zaritsky (The Mantis) here, starting at 9minutes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOQRvlVRMOQ

Having been at this for almost 5years now a few more pieces have been recreated with the focus on Quantum and SKYFALL up until this point. So originally created for the harrington, this thread has become an all inclusive ROYALE Filmwear thread. Discussing all ROYALE Filmwear pieces as they become available.

QoS Harrington Jacket
QoS Haiti Jacket
SKYFALL Pea Coat
SKYFALL Swim Shorts
SPECTRE Solden Jacket Version 1
& SPECTRE Solden Jacket Version 2

I value you comments and feedback, which helps ROYALE Filmwear to improve.

Thank you all for your support!

It is him, he also commissioned the Skyfall Lodge Jacket last year. Daniel has great customer service. When he hit some snafus' with that jacket, he informed all interested parties of the problems. He then painstakingly found a process to fix the problem, made a video tutorial for people to do themselves, and even started selling fixed copies at a slightly higher price (but definitely worth the money)

    Quick questions, if I may:

Can anyone compare this fabric to the Magnoli version? Magnoli's was very well-made, but seemed to fade quickly.

Same question about the collar - Magnoli's wouldn't button closed. Will this one be more functional?

Just to confirm that you will have no problems with the seller

I have one of the original Solace jackets. Made really well and a damn fine replica for the price..... Only issue is the sleeves could do with another inch to be perfect.

    But he is addressing this

He is a great guy to deal with

Thanks for mine, its still going strong after a couple of years of good use !!!!

I also have the original Solace run.

Looks wise its very good however the material was far too thin and def needs to be thicker / heavier etc so that is a great move. (Ive owed the real deal to compare)

I also agree the sleeves were a tad short so that is def something to consider!!

The two inner pockets gave way also on mine with light use etc do maybe another thing to look at

Tiffany Case: And which do you prefer?

I remember seeing pictures of the first run of these and I'd be willing to try one of these new offerings. Email sent.

I would also add to make sure that you round the collar at each tip slightly. The old version had pointed tips vs the proper slightly rounded tips.

See this pic comparing the TF version to the old "Solace" version and compare the collars. The TF is slightly rounded. This is a detail I have not seen the majority of replica jackets get right. Magnoli I think has now addressed it over the last year maybe?

;) Thanks for that Bondtoys... but more importantly thank you to my valued customers. I hope I have shown that I am doing my best to offer a quality alternative. I'm just like you guys... the reason I did this jacket in the first place was because I wanted one and there wasn't really an 'affordable alternative'. I always take feedback onboard and do my very best to improve where possible. Many of you know the story with the Skyfall Lodge Jacket and well I learned my lesson from that experience. Thank you for your support gentlemen, I was a little gunshy given my last experience, but I have received your MANY emails overnight and am putting together a notification list and have a much better idea of what sizing is required. Despite what many may believe there are a lot of long hours and long converstaions that go into these reproduction items, so based on the comments above its really rewarding to hear you guys enjoying my jackets. Rounded collar tips noted. Thanks guys keep your info coming, very valuable.

    Cheers,

    Dan

    Hi Dan

I know how much work goes in to these, but have you thought about taking your skills and learns and producing the Y3 from earlier in Q of S ???

Think you would have a good take up on here for a quality repro of that .....

I concur. Never going to get the chance to own a real Y3 (or probably any of the other CR and QOS jackets). I think you would get a good take up as replicas for the Y3 are extremely hard to find. Will need to get some Levi 306 Sta-Prest's if you could replicate the jacket.
    I'm sorry......that last hand...nearly killed me

    Hi guys,

Thanks a lot for your suggestions, I have had a few requests for the Y3 and I do have a couple of other items I'd like to produce, but the result of those ideas really depends on the success of this Harrington first and foremost. I simply can't afford to sit on a lot of stock, which is for the most part why I appreciate being able to get an accurate idea of demand from you fine gentlemen. I am very willing to listen to what everyone wants, but as always its a number game, the demand simply must be there. I am leaning toward doing a Casino Royale polo replica next atm, I know this original item is not expensive by comparison to a TF jacket, but still in all I am aware that there is a demand for a quality budget alternative. Just an idea at this stage and a good staple in any mans wardrobe that one.

Thank you to everyone for your email... at this stage most people are 38-42 inches which is Smalls to Mediums mostly. Keep your messages coming and just to update, Collin my manufacturer has assured me that the small change to the collar tips won't be a problem, they will have an approximate 8mm radius. Thanks goes to Alexander for shooting me some images I haven't seen before.

Thanks again guys, hope you're enjoying your weekend.

    Dan.

Okay, the Y3 does seem to be a point of interest, maybe I'll aim to get a sample made up sooner rather than later. In any case keep letting me know if you'd like to be notified for the Harrington or otherwise, send me your chest size at magicmandanlove@gmail.com

If the issue was collar size? That shouldn't be a problem, my specs are in mind of someone with a slightly larger neck... Mr Craig might appreciate that feature, plus you don't want it too tight round the neck. So on most guys it should be accommodating without being big. If however the problem you refer to is button placement, I assure you mine will button close properly, the button will be properly located.

    Hope that helps my friend!!

Just a quick update. Thank you everyone for sending me your details... the list is growing!! I will endeavour to have enough jackets made to accommodate those who have contacted me with their details, but it will of course still be a first in best dressed situation.(literally) So, at this point I may have to do my best to increase production numbers a little to accommodate, most people are 40-42inches, valuabale intel ;)

If you are reading this thread and are 'on the fence', just to let you know by sending me your details that doesn't commit you to a purchase, that just tells me you're 'quite interested'. I am confident once I have some images up of the sample jacket once received that my jacket will speak for itself.

Thank you everyone, I hope you had a spectacular weekend.

    Cheers,

    Dan.

    Gentlemen!!!

Smashing news today... 10 minutes ago I was forwarded a certain set of images taken of a certain finished sample jacket of a Royale QoS Harrington replica. I'm delighted with what I see, this has been put together by my original reliable manufacturer and will be approved for production with any minor changes. Collin has told me that the buttons are not accurate to my spec, but will be on the bulk production. The construction looks bang on to my eyes, but of course I will scutinise once it arrives in the post. A very happy surprise. If you do want one of these jackets numbers will be limited so email me your chest size (in inches) and you will be put on the notification list.

    Very pleased!!!

The sample is looking nice. How soon would we be able to see a sizing chart? My biggest concern is the sleeve length..

    Thanks McQueen,

Okay, with the size chart I have decided not to post one because, once the final items arrive I will very accurately remeasure the different sizes and post something that is 100% accurate. There is as always going to be some small tolerances so rather than have people holding me to an original sizing chart I'll just post a final one, so theres no confusion.

Ahhhh yes the infamous sleeve length. Okay, I have intentionally gone with quite accommodating sleeve lengths, so for some this will mean having to tailor down the length. One measurement I will offer is that. The sample is a medium jacket approximately 40-42 chest fit, and it will have a rather accommodating 66cm / 26inch sleeve, BUT as I just mentioned I will remeasure and update that confirmed sleeve length once I have the finished products.

    Hope that helps!!

Your comedic timing is impeccable... but in the essence of public opinion let’s throw it out there. Is a 66cm/26inch sleeve on a 40-42inch jacket too short??? Should we just ramp that baby right up in length so EVERYONE has to get it tailored? Thoughts? I’m all ears....

For sleeve length, at a minimum even on the small, it should be 25.5", move up the medium to 26-26.5" and so forth. Any jacket from like Jcrew or or Levi's, has that at a minimum.
  • TheundeadkennedyTheundeadkennedy Posts: 292MI6 Agent
I agree the sleeve length should be 26.5 for a medium/42 size. It would otherwise be too short for me. Thanks!
