Dan, I have to agree with David. I have a Billy Reid Astor coat from that era and the leather is definitely a chocolate brown. Also from an aesthetic point of view the brown leather looks much better than the black.
Received my Haiti jacket today. Very well done. I actually like it more than the Harrington, which is a surprise. Thanks Dan.
Chris
Great news Chris, I'm really pleased you love it. It's an interesting jacket, I think the main reason I like it so much is it's very flattering to wear without being restrictive due to the Elastane in the cotton twill. And too be honest I've been wearing mine more than I've been wearing the harrington lately, which is saying something because I really love that harrington
Just to update everyone, there is 1 Large and 2 Small Haiti jackets left and thats almost certainly the only production run of them.
Thank you to everyone for your kind comments and praise, I am extremely pleased with the feedback thats been coming through on here and in email for these jackets. I'm delighted to have been able to offer them and be a part of the Bond collecting legacy, the Shanghai peacoat is next.
Dan.
Dan, if you get anyone after a M (which you are now sold out of) I have one up for sale, unworn as I kept it until my Large arrived.
And just echo above, wore my large out over the weekend, more casual than the Harrington and absolutely superb...
Cheers
M
Medium sold, thank you Calvin, on its way first class !
I think it would be a mistake to have it in black leather accents...I would go dark or chocolate brown...the wool should be a midnight blue which is nearly black....please don't listen to BR re-issue. I have a pick of three coats laying onb each other with three different color wools from allegedly the same batch...they have had quality and consistency issues, but we do know which coat BOND wore...I would stick to that.
Thank you very much David (and Welshboy78) for your input as you no doubt have the best knowledge on this and as everyone else has been saying I completely agree. Whats seen in the film is a very rich dark brown, so I'm actually quite pleased to hear this feedback which is in contrast to the official BR re-issue. Glad we came to this conclusion.
And so... I have just confirmed with my manufacturer that we will be changing the leather to a rich dark brown, although this may set back the sample production by about a week to source the appropriate leather, the end result is all we are really interested in.
So thanks again for the feedback, and I'm really looking forward to showing off the final sample once it arrives.
SilverFinger - Sent an email to be added to the list of a hopeful second run of the Harrington. I want to size up to a Large this go around. And if a second run does happen, perhaps a different zipper can be used.
Hi McQueen - as luck would have it I have a large that I want to sell. It's unworn, tried on for size, then went in cupboard, I waited to buy a medium off a member here and I have that now and it fits me better ...
Just tried on the BR peacoat at the Atlanta store. I must say it is a very nice piece. The medium fit me beautifully. So I guess my question is, any idea on how the Royale version will compare size wise?

Just on sizing, at this point the sizing will be in line with my other jackets, which is as I understand it is a larger sizing than the original BR. I thought it best to go this way, so anyone who owns one of my other pieces can simply opt for the same size in the peacoat without confusion. Just to add to this, as the peacoat will likely be worn with an extra layer underneath, I have done two things.
1. Increased the chest size by 2cm or 4/5"
2. Increased the shoulder to shoulder measurement by 1cm or 2/5"
The idea is that if you're a medium in my Harrington, even with the extra layer underneath, you should also be a medium in the peacoat. I hope that makes sense. That is the sizing as intended, if anything changes I'll keep you posted. I'll post a size chart once the final sample is received.
I bought Dans last small of the Haiti Y3 arrived today and fits like a glove (decided to down size for tighter fit). So now have a Medium up for grabs if anyone is interested.

My name is Bond, Basildon Bond - I have letters after my name!
I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Good news!!! I just received an email from my manufacturer. The Shanghai Peacoat sample is finished, with dark brown leather accents. Please have a good look at the images he has provided and let me know what you think. I'll take some shots showing the fit once I receive it.
Dan, it looks quite good. I look forward to pics of it being worn, along with shots of the inside lining and the leather under the collar. The color of the leather looks great.
Based on the pics already posted the only thing I can say is "Wow!" It is one of the finest BR peacoat replicas I've seen.
Definitely looks good.
Will the collar be "pressed" like that to the top button or can it be naturally rolled to the second button like the original without having a mark from the fold?
Dan for a comparison to your sample photos here are some of my Billy Reid jacket (purchased 2012). I did have the shoulders taken in by an inch overall.
The leather on mine does look a lot more worn in (even when it was new). See what the colour is like when you get your hands on the jacket but mine is a very deep navy blue. Ideally I should have taken the photos in daylight to get a better image of the colour.
I love it! I'll be first in line for one of these. Make sure they don't miss the detail stitching at the bottom hem. I'm conflicted on teh lapels. They appear differet depending on how the coat lays, how it is buttoned, and how it is worn. The color looks good on my monitor. Really need to see some pics being worn.
Thanks very much for your feedback guys. I expect that I will be making a couple of changes to this sample to get it spot on. Just to address a couple of things at this stage.
An exact match for the leather is going to be very difficult, there has been a lot of back and forth with my manufacturer so far and we will continue to do our best on that one for final production.
The colour of the sample is not accurate. The final production will be very similar to the dark navy of my QoS Harrington if you own that one you know how dark the navy is. As with all samples it is made from the closest available material, while the final production will be wool that has been batch dyed to my Pantone colour code I'm working from. So no stress on that one.
Keep your feedback coming and I'll post some more pics of the sample once it is received.
Hi Dan,
I don't own myself a BR peacoat so I'm only asking about something i see on different pics : the BR has a zigzag seam running along the underside of the collar, but this seam can hardly be seen on the top side . On your grey sample this zigzag seam cuts deeply through both sides of the collar and the blue sample shows similar deep seams above the peak lapel. Is this a feature of the original BR or is this a "mistake" that will be addressed ?
I am very pleased to announce that I received the Shanghai peacoat final sample yesterday, and while there will be one or two very small improvements, I am extremely impressed with what my manufacturer has accomplished. Here it is....

I could be wrong (will dig out my original later) but maybe it needs to be a darker blue since its almost black?
