Jacket looks great Dan. I have the BR, but it looks like I'll be going 3 for 3 on your projects out of principle. You do amazing work, and I like being consistent with my purchases.
That is a kick-ass looking coat mate! Bloody well done!
The only thing I'd noticed is that perhaps the back of the collar should be a little narrower? On the BR the collar is quite a bit narrower than traditional collars, almost like it is design to be worn up, instead of folded down.
Thanks a lot for your feedback guys, I really appreciate it. I'm putting together some design improvements now to communicate to my manufacturer. All of what has been mentioned above will be addressed. Almost time to get this show on the road! And Frost, thank you, thats really good of you to say, I wouldn't be doing this without the support of you guys. I believe it will be a piece worth collecting.
Just a courtesy message to let you guys know that I have 1 medium Haiti jacket now relisted at www.royalefilmwear.storenvy.com This jacket was thought to be misplaced by the USPS, but has found its way back to me. It is brand new just as I sent it. If you're a medium, heres your last chance to grab the Haiti jacket.
Are you really sure you need a small ? Dan's size charts are very reliable so you should check it twice , depending on your stats you may need a medium or a xsmall ( jared_nomak is selling one )
Hi Dan. Been meaning to post to say well done on the Haiti replica. I think you really nailed the collar which is the highlight for me of the jacket. I have another replica but it never got the large collar right, which is what makes the jacket.
I've got some last wears in before the weather turns here in London. I really love this jacket. Good work keep it up.
Bump still have a medium Y3 Haiti from Dan up for grabs (as new worn once) PM me if you are interested I went for a Small for a more snug fit that's all.
Cheers :007)
My name is Bond, Basildon Bond - I have letters after my name!
I was finally able to open my Haiti jacket and try it on over the weekend. It's a beautiful jacket and quite accurate to the Y-3 which I also own.
One thing is bugging me though - I can't help but notice the collar is not symmetrical. The collar leaf without the tab is 1"-2" shorter (I don't mean the length of the collar points, but rather the overall dimensions of the collar leaves) than the collar leaf with the tab - meaning the left and right side collar leaf don't meet in the same place on the jacket. I've added this pic below to illustrate what I'm seeing on my jacket. My collar is shown by the red lines below, while the one collar leaf SHOULD follow the blue line.
Has anyone else noticed this with their jacket? I was going to try and take some pics and send them to Dan but just don't have the time at the moment.
Firstly I’m really sorry to hear that there is a problem with your jacket, from what you’ve described that sounds like a production error on your piece alone. I quality check every jacket before it gets sent out, so I take full responsibility for having missed the error and will fix your jacket.
Am I right in saying that your jacket was a small? It may be the case that my manufacturer used the paper pattern for the collar of an XS on yours, which would explain why the neck measurement is short on the collar. In any case someone must have had an off day when they assembled it without noticing. My manufacturer is usually exceptional with his quality control, but I will make him aware of this issue with your jacket, he takes my constructive criticisms well and will make sure this doesn’t happen again. I have not received any other quality complaints with this run of jackets, but again the buck stops with me, I should have noticed it.
I do need a few things from you, firstly please do take a couple of pics to show me. Thank you for the detailed drawing, that must have taken you a while to put together, but taking a quick pic will show me exactly what’s happened.
I have just taken a picture of 3 Haiti jackets together to illustrate what the collar should look like from various angles, tab closed/buttoned back et cetera. Please compare with yours and take photos for me when you get a chance.
SOLUTIONS!!
As I understand it, there are 2 fixes.
1. If you have room to spare in the neck measurement on your jacket, we could remove the collar, tailor the jacket in symmetrically at the zip and reattach the collar now centered and matching in length with the jacket neck measurement. This could be done by your trusted tailor at my expense.
2. If there is no spare room in the neck of your jacket, I could have a new collar made matching the neck measurement of your jacket from the original Haiti ‘sample jacket’ which is the same black fabric. This is obviously more involved, but also not a problem.
Of course this is addressing the problem as I understand it, please provide photos.
I would recommend the first fix if the neck measurement doesn’t end up being to small for you. That way it could be done at your trusted tailor near you and I will reimburse you the cost of the alteration.
Equally, I am happy to sacrifice my original sample coat and have a slightly large collar made from the same fabric. This will require you to send the jacket back to me and will take a deal longer to rectify.
Whatever you decide, I will fix your jacket and make it right.
Thank you for such a prompt reply. As CRB and Mantis stated, you continue to provide fantastic customer service! I can't thank you enough for that. As you stated in your post, indeed my Haiti jacket is a size Small. Your theory of the XS collar being used on this jacket sounds correct. And judging from the pic you posted of the three jackets, it definitely seems to be unique to mine as those other collars look spot on! I'll take some pics of the jacket this weekend and send them to you.
As for which method to use for fixing the collar, sadly, my tailor of almost 10 years recently retired, so I no longer have a trusted tailor whom I can trust with this work. I will most likely opt to send the jacket back to you for the fix if that's ok. I don't mind the additional time as long as you're ok with having the work completed on your end.
Also, now that I'm back home from an extensively long work stint abroad, I promised that I would photograph my Y-3 with your Haiti replica, as well as your Navy Harrington alongside my TF Harrington. I'll put those pics up here over the US holiday next weekend. I know the pics will show that you've made some real quality pieces that are faithful replicas of the original jackets! Looking forward to the BR peacoat replica as well!
Just came across this jacket project in watching one of David's videos on youtube. Silverfinger, what is the likelihood of a second run of the Harrington? Great work!

urhash, email Dan with your desired size and request being put on his mailing list.
Earlier in this thread I mentioned that I used to own the TF Harrington and that this was very close material wise to Dans replica. I would like to clarify that this statement was based purely on memory since the TF was sold a fair while back (it was a bargain buy on eBay that never fit). Last week I received another TF Harrington (thankfully fits this time!!!) and now have both the real deal in my possession along with Dans replica!!!! I would just like to re-confirm that Dans replica is very impressive, material very similar, the TF material maybe just a tad softer. I am more impressed then before!
If he is indeed doing a second run and you are on the fence then I highly recommend you get one ASAP!!!!!

How about some side by side pics? How similar is the fit?

Thank you so much for your ongoing and valued input into these projects, without your welcome feedback I would not have had the opportunity to improve as I have had. I am extremely pleased that compared to the Tom Ford Harrington my replica jacket stacks up as a quality alternative. I am very pleased to announce that in the very near future I will be reproducing another batch of these harringtons due to popular demand. I will not be ordering many more above and beyond what is required, so please do contact me in regards to sizing if you would like one.
I am also very pleased to announce that the Skyfall Shanghai Peacoats will be for sale within the next 2 weeks. They are almost finished production and will be listed for sale shortly thereafter. Thank you very much to everyone for their ongoing support, these projects would not be possible without you.

Other than that this looks the business.
