Possible Bond Dissertation topic

I'm doing and English degree and starting to think about possible topics for my dissertation. As a big literary Bond fan, the idea of doing my dissertation on the books is very appealing. It will also give me a reason to get through them all as I'm currently prevented on doing because of my other reading commitments for University.
I've only read 3 of the books so far so was just wondering what sort of continuing themes there are throughout the entire collection? One that I thought of was the portrayal of Britain as a global power.

I'm not asking for anyone to provide me with possible titles for my dissertation but if I can identify the themes then I can use them as a building block.

Thank you.

I did my dissertation in film on Bond. On the marketing and product placement in the films. It was called 'Buy Another Day'. :)
    Good luck with everything!

Ahh that sounds interesting. I've looked online to see if anyone else has done one on literary Bond but a lot of the results were ones on the films. I doubt any had such a quality pun in the title though haha

    Thank you :)

It was either that or 'Live and Let Buy'. It went down to a coin toss. :))

The biggest Change from the Flemming Books to the Gardner Books is the liquidation of the '00' Section, along with Changes to the British Secret Service that happened around the late 70's where a large Amount of it's Members were sacked and new ones brought in. Gardner describes Bond as being a 'Bit behind the Times' when it comes to the Time Period of the his Novels (Late 80's) The Change in Attitudes to Drinking and Smoking are touched upon as well. You could also cover Robert Markham's 'Colonel Sun' as an interesting Piece of Bond Literature, because it's pretty much the closest to a Flemming Book out of any of the Continuation Novels Published after the Death of Flemming.
