I just purchased the Burt Bacharach OST. I've played it a couple of times.
I think its quite good. Probably the best thing about the film (I've only watched it once - more than enough). It's catchy and jokey. I don't think the main theme disgraces Bond at all unlike what unfolded on screen. Equally the theme song Look of Love is brilliant - wasn't it Oscar nominated? before any of the official 007 themes? I think its hamstrung a bit by the nature of the action unfolding on screen, for instance the Trip to Find Mata sequence feels very long and stop-start on CD, but works quite well with all those bizarre dancing girls. The Cowboys and Indians finale does nobody any favours and is best left forgotten.
Overall I rather enjoyed it. It lacks the drama of a Barry score but is better balanced than Legrand's effort for NSNA. It shows more than anything than Bacharach understood the project; while he's having fun, he isn't really mocking the action or the central hero, merely offering an amusing sideline on our hero. Makes you wonder if he'd have made a decent stab at an Eon Bond score....

Although I agree that many of the tunes on the CR'67 soundtrack are memorable and quite catchy, I can hardly bear listening to it because it reminds of that absolutely awful movie!
There was an expanded re-release of the score a while back, too.
The theme song, I can't say I ever even noticed the soundtrack. ( The film really is that BAD !) )
I think it flopped at the time though
Indeed! However, it is not high enough on my list of priorities! The original soundtrack album will satisfy my needs for the time being. I actually had no idea that there was an expanding soundtrack release until I read it on this thread.
