Bond knowledge

I really think someone should come up with a test of a person's knowledge of all things to do with James Bond.
Whether you have an overall Expert level or specialising in one aspect-like, books, films, merchandise, toys, clothes etc.
Or a wide knowledge and collection of stuff.
Perhaps you could have 10 grades of knowledge-(like the black belt system in karate) so that you can assess what a person knows.

It's prompted by hearing people say-"I'm a massive Bond fan" and they've only seen a few-or maybe all of the films.
but not read any of the books, Fleming, Gardner, Benson or others, nor collected any memorabilia like magazines or toys.
So I think-"you've only touched the tip of the iceberg of Bond knowledge".
Hope it's not snobbery, but I'd like to grade myself -say an 8 out of 10 in knowledge and merchandise.

If you had a grading you could say-this person's a beginner-grade 2. (or something).

So what would be the definitions for the various grades? any suggestions?

Bleuville.

Dear old Silhouette Man had a fondness for the word "Bondologist", meaning one steeped in Bond knowledge. I don't think he ever came up with a grading system (and if you're reading this, Brian, that is not an invite).

Maybe the Mods could come up with a set of questions for different grades of fan knowledge. White belt to Black in honour of the fantastic martial moves of the great
Sir Roger himself in TMWTGG. :))
or just keep it the fun way it is now, as there is always someone who knows more than you. :))

I had a DT teacher who would test me out on Bond knowledge, used to try and catch me out but he never could. I think this is a great idea.

I'd say I have an extremely good knowledge of the films, but some trivia appeals more than others. I haven't a clue what precise model Aston Martin Bond drives in OHMSS. Neither have I much interest in precise makes of weaponry, watches, sunglasses or other paraphernalia Bond lugs about on his missions... But I know Jean-Pierre Castaldi played the co-pilot in MOONRAKER's opening sequence & Chunky Huse was Camera Grip on THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS!

Regrettably I'm very limited in my knowledge of the Fleming books. I should really make more of an effort with them.

I'm probably a purple belt, or maybe blue! But like we say in Karate - most of what you need is learnt by Green, it's just perfecting it! (Brown belt in wado Ryu/ gojo Ryu - taking black belt in November ;) )

Good luck for November. I'd say " Break a leg " but I don't want to tempt fate. :))

As if we don't have enough to do....! 8-)

    Perhaps something like-

    NOVICE
    Name the first Bond book.

    APPRENTICE
What was Ian Fleming's middle name?

    STUDENT
Which director made more Bond movies than any other?

    EXPERT
Who was the first actor to play two different roles in two different Bond movies?

I'm sure we can come up with more categories.... guys?

I believe I fall into this category as well. I'm not opposed to the idea of assessing our knowledge of Bond, so long as we keep it fun. I wouldn't enjoy it if some of us (and you know who you are!) used our "grades" to denigrate the opinions of others by proclaiming ourselves to be bigger "Bond experts".

I thought 'our' Bond knowledge was already tested in the Trivia Challenge forum ?
