When did Lois Maxwell lose her looks?

MustonMuston Huncote, Leicestershire Posts: 228MI6 Agent
Odd post I know, but I'm 11 films into my Bondathon and trying to work out the film that Maxwell's Moneypenny lost her sex appeal?Seeing that she held the role from 1962 to 1985, it was always going to happen sooner or later, she still looked hot in DAF and I think still very sexy-full (to quote Tiger Tanaka :) ) in LALD, but her make-up was starting to get a bit heavy by TMWTGG in my view.

    Never.

(although the series did touch on the subject in Octopussy, but as Rog said, "There never has been, and there never will be, anyone but you."

    It's not a very gallant question. I'm with Firemass, She never lost her looks. -{
Perhaps some lost their ability to appreciate a ladies beauty. ;)

It's a fair question that can also be applied to Roger. Like people have asked the question before, 'When did he get too old to be Bond?' Personally I believe both should have called it a day with MR, leaving two newer actors to take over for FYEO.

I agree that it's not the sort of question a gentleman answers, but if I were to force myself to do so, I would be in agreement with the original post. TMWTGG is the first Bond film where Moneypenny is a bit less attractive.

I always thought that Lois Maxwell aged quite a lot between Thunderball and You Only Live Twice. I'd blame it on smoking.

Well, I guess Rog aged a heck of a lot, something like 10 years, between TMWTGG and TSWLM. Thing is, no one noticed or commented because in the interim he suddenly became a bona fide movie star, as Bond anyway. As Moore and Maxwell, and Connery were contemporaries it's hardly any surprise that around the same time Maxwell aged a bit, quite normal of course. It also corresponded with the Bond babes getting very young looking.

The OP's question seems unfair cos Maxwell's Moneypenny didn't have sex appeal down as her essential criteria.
"This is where we leave you Mr Bond."

I never thought she did, actually.
The next lot is number 48. A superb green-gold imperial Easter egg by Carl Faberge. Enameled in translucent green, enclosed by gold laurel-leaf trellis. Set with blue sapphires and four petalled gold flowers with diamonds.

    She didn't.

I'd still easily take Lois Maxwell in AVTAK over Dalton's Moneypenny, and not just because I like older women.

What a sh*t thing to ask!

Lois Maxwell was a lady from her early days on the stage and in TV, right through to her post Bond years. Elegant, graceful and funny, I have read often how gracious she was to fans, and Sir Roger always has spoken highly of her as a dear friend. The only "loss" is ours and of course her friends and family that she is no longer with us.

My favourite picture of her, is at a Bond event looking over memorabilia alongside Samantha Bond. She was, and always will be a bright light in the bond universe, alongside Bernard Lee, and bless him, our Uncle Q, Desmond Llewelyn. May they all rest in peace.

Who the hell asking a question like that? :#
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?
