This mornings news is focusing on a sonar image of plausible size 1550 miles off Perth, W. Australia. Where in Hell's name was it going if this is the case? Nothing between there and Antarctica.
If it is wreckage, it could've drifted for 1,000 miles.

On another board I post on, we've been toying with that theory for a while. A couple websites have also put up the theory. I won't post them out of respect to the situation.

I read an interview of an salvage expert who helped find the missing Air France plane a few years ago. He was convinced that the black box is now on the bottom of the ocean. If not satelites would have picked up distress signals by now. He also said they have to find flaoting debis to narrow down the search area. If not it's impossible to find the wreckage. Since the battery of the black box only works for a couple of weeks more, it all comes down to finding debris.
