Is OHMSS boring?

My father tried watching On Her Majesty's Secret Service with me just now and he said it was boring. And I said why? Is it because of George Lazenby and how he's playing the character he said yeah. But he also said that he didn't know why Bond was at Piz Gloria in the first place but then again we watched it with the volume way up high but with no subtitles and there was backround noise in the house such as people talking in the dining room...It made for a lousy viewing experience.

I don't suppose your father has ever told you that OHMSS was boring. 8-)
It reminds me of FRWL in the pacing department….where all the action scenes are squeezed in at the end.
Last month, I watched it with a friend because he was curious about Lazenby. Let's just say he found it rather slow.

A masterpiece manages to blend the two, but there aren't a whole lot of those around in any kind of film category. Of the Bond films, GF probably comes closest (and I'd argue it is for what it is). It has all the action and fantasy, but we also get a significant look at Bond's world -- that's why it's the template for Bond and most of the Bond films -- and we really learn a lot about the villain and what makes him who he is. All the ingredients interweave, style and form, themes and symbols. But it's pulp rather than literature, so regardless, it only goes far.
and now its one of my favs , I suppose as I said to TP as you get older your tastes /perspectives change, but then if we all liked/hated the same stuff we would have nothing to discuss 8-)
I am sure as soon as they play TLD and LTK again, you'll change your opinion and agree with me

makes AJB007 so much fun. Through many discussions over the years, I've changed my Mind
on many things, I used to hate QOS and posted many times on how bad it was, but from taking
on board others thoughts and ideas on it I slowly changed my mind and "Got" what the Producers
were trying to do. Even going back to basics, ( I was advised to go back and re-read the fantastic
Fleming novels, which I'm doing and would tell everyone who wants to know Bond to READ the books!

There are plenty of action packed Bonds, TND, DAD, Moonraker etc all action driven with little or no
Story / Characterization, which are fun but OHMSS is very close to the novel, full of Characterization
and a great story. Infact ( IMHO) like Goldfinger the movie improves the story slightly by combining
the Love story with Tracy and the Attack on Piz Gloria.
As a kid It wasn't one of my Favourites ( I liked Jaws and the gadgets, and the jokes ) But I quickly
changed my mind and it rapidly became my #1 Bond film. So my advice to anyone is Go Back and read
the Books ( I'm reading Thunderball at the moment, haven't read it in years and it's Brilliant, Moves at a
cracking pace ).

I think most member accept the the are only two types of Opinions, The wrong one and your own.

OHMSS has ALWAYS been regarded as the Bond film with the most action...it has three 'action endings' for a start - or a finish
There are some good articles wriiten on OHMSS and its abundance of action in the old 007 Magazines...you should try and find them -{
And to cap it all, there's a rich irony in that starting with Bond's escape from Piz Gloria, OHMSS probably has more excitement than any other 007 film of the era.
ive never knocked Timmo , its a shame he never did more ,I think we was robbed of a great Bond, I find Tims acting superb,
he is one of the few actors who don't need to say much ,his eye movements and body language speak volumes ,

Motorcar Ice Racing (ah, the great toys from that one) / playing the cowbells with a baddies head / tutorial on how to slide on your belly and shoot at the same time / luge chasey with a bad man (more great toys) ... plus, plus, plus.
