    Can't understand why it didn't get a bigger release ? :#

I'd say the Studio were disappointed with it and cut their losses...

It might have something to do with discouraging upstarts that fund their own films without producing them at big studios...?

Just saw November Man and thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought it was a good action thriller with some decent scenes and an enjoyable plot. There were a few bits and bobs that should have been done better, but I don't subscribe to the notion that films must be perfectly factually accurate...unless they're based on real events and purport to be accurate in which case I hold them to a very high standard (that they nearly all fail!). Brosnan was excellent. I wouldn't be surprised if the lack of general excitement about the film is in part due to the fact that Brosnan's character isn't especially warm, fuzzy and charismatic. I highly recommend it.

Glad to hear it & read your cool review. I was trying to imagine it without Brosnan just to take the 'Bond flavour' out of it & judge it without bias and that way I find it to be a good solid little well-made thriller but lacking something....
    oh yeah, PIERCE! :))
    Seriously, it's a movie I've waited for for a while. B-)

Just watched this the day before yesterday. I liked it! The movie felt like a combination of Bond, Bourne and Taken..
Brosnan was very good, got me thinking what it would be like had he still been Bond around this time and being more gritty. (Moore was also still Bond at his age, and Brosnan looks a lot fitter for that matter)

I liked Olga Kurlyenko in this movie as well, her character was similar to her character in QoS, yet I cared about her character more in this movie, in QoS I couldn't care less to be honest...

    Overall a great watch, full of twists and great entertainment, and great to see good old Brosnan back as a professional Spy. -{

Great review from a friend at MI6:
    The November Man

I'm glad I decided to blind-buy this movie, though I don't like to purchase films I haven't seen at least once before.

I think that anybody who is a fan of Brosnan as Bond should check this movie out. I can see that through his role in this film he was able to experiment with playing a darker agent type than he got to while playing Bond. In many ways, he is using the character of Devereaux to show the world the kind of agent he wanted to play Bond as, which is great. I loved seeing him really getting his hands dirty, kicking the absolute crap out of guys half his age in true badass form. The character of Devereaux is a brilliant one, very human and therefore very complex and hypocritical at times, as we all are in our own ways. He has moments as an agent where he doesn't practice what he preaches, revealing sides of himself that he doesn't let others see. The film brings up a lot of interesting ethical/moral concerns through the actions of men like Devereaux in the espionage business, and this film definitely brings to life our "real world" where there isn't a simple division of good vs. bad, just a lot of muddy water. The rest of the cast in this film was great as well, especially Olga Kurylenko who gives a strong performance while starring alongside yet another Bond actor. She and Pierce have a great dynamic onscreen and her character was beyond fascinating.

I would defintely recommend this film to anyone who likes action films, Pierce's body of work (looking at you, @Creasy47), or wished his Bond got the chance to be darker. This film delivers on all those levels and more, trust me. While it has a ton of great action, it also has a lot of substance to it that I was very pleased to see. I hate action films that are empty of anything but spectacle, but here we get a lot of great character studies, the most interesting being those of Devereaux and his protege. The film also brings up a lot of relevant current day concerns about morality in our governments, and the responsibilities we have to do the right things though their consequences may prove to be troublesome.

All in all, I was very impressed with this film and would definitely love to see any sequels that come out of this. Seeing Pierce like this is such a kick.
Dalton & Connery rule. Brozz was cool.

Here's an online review I quite agree with:
    http://www.moviefanatic.com/2014/11/the-november-man-dvd-review-pierce-brosnan-spies-a-thriller/
The best part was seeing Brosnan back in action. He has not lost a beat and if it’s even possible, he’s even more perfectly suited to play Devereaux than Bond!

I watched November Man last night with high hopes despite the mixed to negative reviews. At the very least, I was expecting a generic by-the-numbers spy thriller that would be elevated by my main man Brosnan.

Unfortunately, what we have is a vile, sexist, repulsive film that I honestly wish I could erase from my memory. If this was a Bond film it would easily be the worst.

These are my main issues with the film:

    1. The scene where Brosnan is holding "the girl next door" hostage and slits her artery and leaves her a bleeding mess on the floor. We never even see her again. NEWSFLASH: She was a non-combatant. Any film that is this hostile towards innocent bystanders make me sick. Especially since the offender was the protagonist Mr. Devereaux. Was he supposed to be getting revenge for his baby momma who was killed earlier in the film? NEWSFLASH: She was a spy and knew the risks of her profession.

    2. One of my favorite Bond girls not being able to go thru with executing the Russian man who raped/killed her whole family. She's in the bathroom getting prepped and we see all these flashbacks of atrocities and then she kinda chickens out with the blade on his throat?! Almost nothing irritates me more than a character's reluctance to kill after such a build-up.

    3. Brosnan's game of Russian roulette is funny because he claims the "odds are running out" yet he re-sets the cylinder each time which would keep the odds at 1 out of 6 chance.

    4. The crash the car and eject the unbuckled passenger was so poorly handled. The passenger wasn't even buckled, yet driver still went to the trouble to jam a coin into the buckle, then tell the passenger to buckle up just to showcase his coin trick. There would have been several easier ways to get rid of the unwanted passenger since he wasn't even a bad guy. Besides, I've already seen that type of car crash in several other films.

The only aspect of the film I enjoyed was an aging Brosnan still getting the upper hand on a younger Craig-type Bond.
    My current 10 favorite:

To be honest Brosnan's character was supposed to be a Bast*rd
Which is how Brosnan played him. :D

    It definitely WASN'T A BOND FILM. :o

NEWSFLASH: Deveraux is a pretty effed-up individual. Notice how many drinks he had before he did that to prepare himself? Bond is a *Saint* by comparison... :007)

But he DOES get his. Wonder who did it?

    Not exactly. 8-)
    4. The crash the car and eject the unbuckled passenger was so poorly handled.
I thought it was well done. ?:)

Well, thanks for your review, and I certainly understand half of your points, but I like November Man for NOT being a Bond film.

Then why did you directly compare it to the Bond series by saying it was better than many Bond movies ?

Anyway, thanks for reading my review. I did a google search to see if anyone else shared my viewpoints and found one critic who was also bothered by the seatbelt scene, " Instead of simply shooting a man seated next to him, Mason crashes his car into a barricade because the other guy doesn't have his seat belt fastened and will get catapulted though the windshield. Why did Mason risk injsyry and/or death for no reason? (And now he has to walk, too.) - Dann Gire, Daily Herald

Also came across a wikipedia article on the literary Bond's character that states, "Bond hates those who kill non-combatants, especially women."

Likewise, I can't stand film directors who do the same. It was played off as Brosnan showing a tougher, more ruthless side, but really it was just downright offensive and in poor taste.

:)) The human body is a beautiful thing, as so flexible.

Cutting the girls leg, I guess was a visual short hand to show how much
Of a cold hearted, SOB killer and Agent Brosnan's character was. ;)
Quickly showing that if you didn't play ball with him, you'd be in for a
World of pain. -{ , after all if the other guy had backed down, she wouldn't have
Got cut, so it was all his fault really. :D

TP, did you notice how much he drank before that? Some part of his humanity needed anesthetizing to be that cold. First time I saw it I wondered why his was suddenly drinking like a fish...

Yes,a nice little touch ( sort of thing actors do) , he had to numb
Himself before doing something, probably against his inner core.
On a side note I loved how he tied the two agents up, with only
A pen to breath through. :D
As I've already posted. I liked it and would love to see Brosnan
    Back in another adventure as the November man. -{

Also, Pierce, right now at the tender age of 60, looks better than Connery looked in Diamonds Are Forever.

    Brosnans filth Film probably would have been more like this and FYEO -{

I wouldve preferred Brosnan's fifth film to be EON (Everything Or Nothing) Based off the video game. playing that was like watching a movie....Any way, i saw the November Man and I loved it too. Pierce is one of my favorite Bond's so watching Nov. Man was like watching him lace up for Bond again. I'd buy this movie, specially now since i know he is doing a sequel in the series.
    Shocking...

I just saw the film, and I've got to say this. . .I thought it was terrible. I found the film a complete mess: it starts out as a Liam Neeson-ish revenge thriller, then it becomes a John le Carre-ish spy thriller-cum-political critique that shows the West as responsible for all the evils of the Third World, and then it winds up as a kidnap/ransom adventure. Also: where the hell does all the action take place? There are about three different cities mentioned, but you can't tell who's where or why or how people got to where they are. And last of all, this could be Pierce Brosnan's worst performance. He growls, snarls, howls, screams, and nearly cries--but never once convinces me he's playing a real character. You fans of this dreck can keep it.
