Two Separate Bond Film Universes

I apologize if this topic has been discussed before (I'm too lazy to check) but I thought it might be fun to talk about the fact that there are two Bond Movie Universes out there. And Judi Dench is M. in both of them.
The original series began with Dr. No and ended with Die Another Day...So, that means the series had started with Sean Connery and ended with Pierce Brosnan. The current series began with Casino Royale (2006) and it will probably never end as long as Sony Pictures and MGM are around.
It's too bad that the original James Bond series had to end on Die Another Day, but such is life, I suppose.

details of Crab key and a certain Dr No !
I know. That's why I said there are two separate Bond universes. One lasted for 20 films and then died when Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson acquired the rights to Casino Royale.
As for the Sam Raimi Spider-Man series, I think it's best that they didn't make Spider-Man 4 with Anne Hathaway as Felicia Hardy/Black Cat...That would've been awful. Just like Anne Hathaway as Catwoman was awful in my not so humble opinion.

I believe it was Martin Campbell who said, "You gotta have Judi Dench as M. No matter how screwed up the timeline is, because she's just M. and there's nobody better."
The first Bond universe didn't die. It just fell out the back of a plane. The second one got off to a bumpy start too, dragged out of an Aston M that barrel rolled seven times.
Well, if video games count...I'd like to consider EA's Everything or Nothing 007 to be the sort of unofficial swan song for the original 007 Cinematic Universe. But you guys don't count video games do you?
Yeah, but he also said "yeah, Ryan Reynolds would make a great Green Lantern!"

Yeah, well, I believe the blame falls squarely on Martin Campbell's shoulders. He wanted Judi Dench. But Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are not blameless either, because they let it happen.
So, there's three people to blame for Judi Dench showing up in two separate Bond universes...Barbara, Michael and Martin. Blame them.
Oddly enough 8-) , it has been discussed before... many times. It's an always valid topic, though, and of interest to many. I would encourage you to check before starting a new topic, though.
Same here!
Oh yes! Despite being of an age to revere Bernard Lee (I can't read Fleming without picturing him) DJD is the quintessential M!
So I see skyfall as rejoining the bond universe. Which means it could go absolutely anywhere next - but it is dan's 4th - which was the stumbling block for roger and pierce
Well, it's hard to picture Daniel Craig's Bond in Skyfall as the same one who got married to Tracy before she was tragically murdered by Blofeld's henchwoman. It's equally hard to imagine Craig's Bond as the same one who fought Blofeld and SPECTRE. I also refuse to believe that Craig's Bond is the same one who drove a Lotus Esprit under water and would later on, go on to **** Grace Jones's character in A View to a Kill.
It would not make any Sense to try and fit the Craig Films into the original Time Line.
That's the only thing that makes sense. I don't understand why some folks are still subjecting themselves to the brain damage of trying to get things to add up any other way. 8-)
Well, no, because Bond is already using the Walther PPK. Sorry to revive this topic but I finally found something that (apart from the fact that there is 50 years between the movies and the world changed quite a bit in those years) might stop this whole timeline discussion bull.
Severine. )
Yes I know it doesn't perfectly match up, I don't think it ever was supposed to bring us full circle, But
I think it simply brings us back to the Traditional M Office, with the usual office staff etc.
She does play it a little differently.
