...and think that Licence to Kill is the weakest James Bond film of them all?

I know this film gets a lot of love nowadays with people praising Dalton in the role and I agree with that, I think he's fine in the film...but he just doesn't cut it for me.
I feel this film has an uninspired and pretty underwhelming story
Flat Direction by John Glen
Apart from the awesome ending I don't find much of the action to be ... Well maybe memorable is the best way to put it.
And I just hate the location :#

I really want this film to grow on me but I just can't see why people rank it quite so highly. I know this will start an uproar with Fleming & Dalton purists but I just want to know if any other members rank this film low down on there list, Or bottom like me..... I'm sorry guys :#

I saw it once as a teenager but was watching it simultaneously while doing stuff on the computer and didnt remember a damned thing about it and just kind of assumed it sucked.

Watched it again a few years ago and when giving it my full attention I really enjoyed the storyline. It jumped into my top 10

Does Dalton struggle with the humorous side? Sure. He also adds a more human side to the character that was quite a nice new spin.

I totally get the viewpoint of those that dislike this film, I just don't necessarily agree. I do find myself missing out on the lack of humor at times though which holds it back for me.

No, that would be A View To A Kill. :))

Actually, I think Licence to Kill is a very good hard-edged Bond.

I was disappointed with Licence to Kill after the very good The Living Daylights, but I certainly don't think it's the weakest. That dubious distinction would probably go to A View to a Kill.I think Licence to Kill is (slightly) better than the over-praised Goldeneye.

AVTAK never fails to get a good kicking :))
Forgot to mention that I really do like Sanchez as the villain, he is the highlight of the film for me (along with Dario).
Also forgot to mention that I find the bar fight in this film almost as cringeworthy as the "fight" in the Microchip factory ...... almost lol

I like LICENCE TO KILL, with minor reservations. I applauded its move away from standard Bond-on-a-mission plotting & overall tough stance, but it feels less radical now. More so in light of Daniel Craig's new brand of brutality. The budgetary restrictions imposed by MGM/UA don't help, giving it a cheap feel at times. And I tend to prefer Dalton's debut performance, being less brooding & showing more textures. But it has many positive points - a strong narrative, interesting characters, a brisk pace - all of which help to still put it in my Top Ten.

I disagree on most counts. The direction is workmanlike and at times flat. I also think the title music could be better and it suffers from a tight budget.. But Dalton is great in it, the story is solid and smart, the villan is menacing and belivable and the action is tough and impressive.

Imo LTK starts well until Dalton cries for the first time when arriving at the church.
The second half is plain boring and irritating ( minus the truck tanker chase)

I like the locations, Carey Lowell is great Talisa looks hot - Dalton weepy as always and the appearance of the HK agents quite unnecessary and boring.

Did I mention Daltons pathetic Dracula hairstyling in the Casino sequence? :o {:)

Even though, imo DAF is by far worse and I prefer LTK over TLD personally.

For Bondtoys, that was a rather restrained critique. :D and I find myself
In the rather odd and uncomfortable position of agreeing with him about
Dalton's hair style in the casino, I always thought it looked too swept back.

Yes, it's better than most of his regular Bond books.

For me LTK has been a Bond film I have grown to appreciate. I wasn't too impressed with it when I saw it in the cinema, but I have been more and more entertained (if that is the correct word here) with repeated viewings of it over the years.

The action scenes are expertly staged, and Dalton gives a superb performance with his no-nonsense, hard-as-nails approach to the role.

My main criticism of the film is the level of brutality contained in it; I would never want to see another Bond film in the same vein ever again.
