My turn:
CR-06.
Thunderball
TSWLM
Moonraker
FYEO
TLD
TWINE
Casino Royale 06 is top because it is my all round favorite Bond film. It has always ticked the boxes since I first saw it. That's also why its first, not in production order.
Differences from my favorites Bond films list, Thunderball replaces Goldfinger due to its locations and amount it gives Sir Sean to do physically. OHMSS is dropped in favour of TSWLM. I always struggle if choosing between TSWLM and MKR. Mkr usually winning due to Michael Lonsdale as Drax and the space shuttle's. However as much as I enjoy OHMSS as a Bond, that ending makes me miserable! TLD is a good all rounder and I love the Boat chase of TWINE and M has a credible part of the main plot. The supporting characters are all well placed, (Christmas Jones doesn't bother me.)
The bonus Bond, (not the Thunderball) is FYEO. It has thriller and suspense, a solid cast and great locations. I considered DAD, but in spite of the ice palace, the car duel and Mr Brosnan's performance, FYEO just has a much sharper storyline.
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?
Clever topic. Only 7 essential Bond movies. Maybe you can look at it as the best. When I started to get the DVDs I got the best movie from each actor. But this I take it as the only ones you can own. Which would suck. But I would cheat and take all the soundtracks. My essential list:
Dr. No
Thunderball
You Only Live Twice
Never Say Never Again
The Spy Who Loved Me
The Living Daylights
Licence to Kill
Never Say Never Again? Big Connery fan, huh? (And there's certainly nothing wrong with that!)
Yeah it's more essential films that give me a good Bond feeling or memories. That's why Never Say Never Again is on the list. If it was best, From Russia with Love and Goldfinger would have to be on there and I would have to start rating the movies.
Never Say Never Again is one of those movies that I watched at first not knowing that it wasn't an "official" Bond movie. I thought and still think the opening is cool. I thought they were just trying something different at the time. I didn't even realize that it was a remake of Thunderball then! It just had Connery, exotic locations, and Kim Basinger! Those things just stick with you even if it isn't technically better than other Bond films.

I know how you feel. The return of Connery was more than enough for me to elevate NSNA to a higher level than it probably deserves.

Perhaps I misjudged you 008. I thought you were strictly a Connery fan.
Anyone who has 4 RM films in their top 7 can't be all bad.
What can I say? Out of all seven of Sir Roger Moore's Bond films there's only four that I really enjoy and the rest simply don't compare to Moonraker, Octopussy, For Your Eyes Only and The Spy Who Loved Me.

Many consider 77-83 to be the "Silver" era of Bond. -{

My essential 7 would be different than my top 7. My rankings take into account film quality in addition to personal enjoyment, though I'm thinking of revamping my rankings this summer to only include my enjoyment because after all that's all that matters when watching a movie.
7 Essential Films... Moonraker, The Spy Who Loved Me, Live and Let Die, The Living Daylights, GoldenEye, Casino Royale, From Russia With Love. I find myself already apologizing to TB, SF, YOLT and about 13 others...
) Yes he played it with a great sence of amusement, as Connery

Las Vegas compared to Monte Carlo.

I have a soft spot for LALD -{ first film I pestered one of my big brothers
To take me to. It has so many great moments. {[]
Roger Moore being extremely British in Harlem always stands out to me. Loved it so much )
I loved the Harlem parts because I grew up there, but I couldn't get over the fact that the greatest Bond ever was replaced by a lightweight like Roger Moore. As you surely know by now, I'm just a stubborn old codger and I still haven't gotten over it! )
