Question on Golden Gun Props

hthomashthomas Philadelphia, PAPosts: 833MI6 Agent
Hey guys. I am not hip to all the info on Golden Gun props. I FE makes one and probably the best! I however can't afford to spend that kind of cash on that. Are there any cheaper alternatives?

Thanks for any help!

FE GGs are fairly modestly priced, the only other manufacturer was SD Studios and you'll normally pay more for an SD than an FE, if you can find one. Your only alternative is a solid resin version which are the biggest pile of poo since there has ever been piles of poo, you have been warned.

Thank you! If I can find one used somewhere where I would have to get it!

EBay is your friend, there are the odd obscure retailers out there who may still have one, but again expect to pay big bucks now, at least with EBay you can set your own limit on spending. An SD looks like it went for $700 the other day, there is one VERY lucky Ebayer out there. I'm sure our resident GG guru will be along soon to throw his opinion in which, by the way, should be listened to.

    SD
Plaque mounted are the cheaper, in the walnut and glass case will at least double the price.

    FE
Limited editions are cheaper than Signature Editions.

    Argentina Resin
If you pay $10, believe me you'll want a refund.

Happy to throw in my two penneth. When the FE gg came out a few years ago it was around 300.00 for normal edition and around 400.00 ish for the dual signed model I think from memory. They seem to be rising really well and often sell either on here or ebay for around 700-800 for normal edition and nearer 1K for dual signed model. I am no expert on the SD gun although a few people on here are. My opinion would be that if you are not 100% sure what you are buying, tell someone on this site and they will happily give you their opinion on whether its genuine / all there / damaged / devalued etc. I have seen SD models goin for anything around 1 to 2K dependant upon condition and either with or without box. Also seen the box go for a tidy sum on its own. Loads of FE guns available if you put a wanted ad on here I bet someone will sell for the right money. I have an FE gun myself and also have a spare FE gun minus the trigger and a respected member on this forum is looking into fabricating me a new trigger all being well. Best of luck.

Prices are even higher than suggested--I've seen some crazy high sales on eBay the last few months. We're all happy to help. Here is a chart showing differences between models - http://www.ajb007.co.uk/topic/43766/the-man-with-the-golden-gun-chart/ - and I welcome help refining the chart.

Strangely enough, I've picked-up a couple -- FE and SD -- on Craig's List for cheap. Ex-wives, children of deceased collectors ... people with no idea what they've selling for all manner of reasons.

Just keep in mind that these examples are more likely to be dirty, incomplete, damaged, etc. On the other hand, I picked-up a slightly rough FE demo unit for less than the value of the dual signature name plate the seller threw in at the last minute.

Did you just get lucky by running across them or did you use a way to search all through craigslist?
