Its white gold, so no wonder huh :))

A long overdue move imo but bad that Rolex limits the Pepsi to the whitegold model.

Anyhow, still prefer my 16750 Pepsi (Magnum Pi accurate)

They'll release the steel version next year. Rolex almost always release the new versions in gold or bi-metal (Rolesor as they call it) first. Good business move.

    I have to disagree.

I am sure that Rolex will keep the Pepsi exclusively to the wg model like they are keeping the blue bezel for the wg Submariner and the 'nice' dials for the gold Daytonas.

Asp9mm has been very wrong with his recent watch choice :p and he's wrong with his prediction of a steel Pepsi. Won't happen!

They released both the Sub and GMT in precious metal first. Rolex are not so stupid as to never offer their best selling GMT bezel colours on the steel version. Rolex have come to the realisation (quite slowly as usual), that just as many loyal customers were turned off by the new models, which is why they've backtracked with the new Sea-Dweller.

As for the 2010 Explorer. It is great. Much closer to the epic 1016 than the previous incarnation. It's a subtle timepiece. Something that Rolex have been getting further away from in the last 7 years. I haven't worn my Sub since I bought it, and I doubt I will.

the 1016 is lovely not so sure about the 2010 exp, but we all have different tastes, its better than that swatch watch totts is lusting after :v

I agree with you on the blingy Subs and much prefer the old ones, but I do like that new Seadweller, to me it looks kind of like a mill sub, though probably too chunky.

One thing that I have been reading, Omega have their bracelets made in China, I find that totally out of order considering their price hikes.

Wait till you see the Explorer in person. I changed my opinion pretty quickly when I saw it. Like 'tots, I love the 1016 and really disliked what they did to it in the late 80's. I think this new Explorer is the closest model they have that harks back to those vintage models with matte dials and subtle lines. It's the only watch left in the sports category that doesn't shout out 'Hey, Look at Me, Look at the Watch I'm Wearing!!!'

Im just not keen on the white gold surrounds, I'm not keen on them on any of their watches, id like them to go back to plain Minuit markers.

    Oh, where do I begin?

I'll remind you on your statements periodically and you'll see that they will not issue a Pepsi in steel!

As for the Submariner: the new models are selling like hot cakes and Rolex simply corrects the slow sales of the Deepsea with the new Seadweller.
I predict, that the SD 4000 will sell much slower than the regular Subs like it has always been.

I know that you don't like the Supercase and the glossy dial and I partly agree - but I can easily live with the recent Sub.

But the normal customer has no problem with the recent Subs and buys them.

As for the 39mm Explorer: you are absolutely totally wrong! period!

And this is the real deal for all our prayers:

Yes I agree with ASP9MM ,the clean lines of black numbers on the plain bezel is just cool very understated to the untrained eye, it was a toss up between that or the GMT
,but I knew a gentleman who was a mountaineering instructor and he wore a GMT so that sold it for me :x

The sales of the new Sub are much slower than the older versions. You never used to see the Sub in dealers windows, especially the Date. Now you can pick them up without any problem.

And yes, Mt 'Tots, you go ahead and wear your new 'in yer face' Sub. I'll leave mine at home and wear something less blingy. Or even bring it down and trade it in for a 1016.

The IWC is a beautiful watch. But the bracelet is over fussy and ruins the look.

Surprisingly I found the newer Explorer quite nice, the older model is far too small for me at 36mm and the smaller hands thing did not remotely bother me.

Nice to hear your wearing your Hulk Markus :))

Still happy with my PCG 1675... not a fan of the new blingy Rolex... The most recent I can go with a Sub is the 1680...
Matte dials and Plexi... can't think of anything else on my wrist....
James Bond: I tend to notice little things like that - whether a girl is a blonde or a brunette...
Tiffany Case: And which do you prefer?
James Bond: Well, as long as the collars and cuffs match...

I would like to agree with you mate, but....

Having a 16800 (matte dial no wg surrounds and sapphire crystal) the matte dial still looks a bit weird and sterile.
Hit me, but with the sapphire crystal the wg surrounds look somehow better.

So a lot of the good vintage looks lies in the plexi crystal - plexi is sexy!

I like the 16800, and to be honest Im sure it is easier to wear without the top hat plexi, don't get me wrong I like the top hat plexi, but I can imagine the sides of the top hat take a bashing :D

I like a sterile dial, that is why I like the 5513, its less busy to look at.
