Do you feel Bond's "widower" status could have been explored?

Its occurred to me that EON could have made a potentially terrific (post-Lazenby, pre-Craig) Bond film, exploring Bond's status as a widower. I mean, they already made mentions/references in FYEO and LTK, so why didn't they just make such a film?
Added to which, Pierce Brosnan could have been the man to pull off such a film, as he had suffered such a real-life experience, losing his wife (Cassandra Harris, no less). IMO the people at EON truly missed a golden opportunity there.

doesn't he plough anything that has a pulse being a married man my self this is one aspect I cannot do (both finacialy and physicaly any more) ;%
