"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
Barbel - I just saw the first season of Outlander (I was bored and borrowed it at the Library ;% ) and one thing I did like was all the Scottish words I understood. Examples:
Braw (good) Norwegian: bra
Kirk (Church) N: Kirke
keek (peek, look) N: kikke
Braw is actually what two hip, cool Scots call each other (How ya doin', braw?)
Kirk is of course the one before Picard.
And keek is what the French do to a football.
I remember back when I actually watched European Song Contests when the finals was in Sweden. The presenter anounced the Swedish entry: "The song is called 'Bra vibrasjoner'. The title means ........... not what you think ) "
The quizz was called " The unbelievable truth" ,the idea being you speak on a subject
Full of lies, and jokes but you have to try and smuggle five true facts about the subject
Past the panel trying to spot the " Truths"
I don't know what the German word actually was but it was credited as a Truth.
and I wouldn't doubt the BBC . )

A delegation from a power company from Norway called "Tussa" visited Iceland a few years back. They picked up something was off already the first evening when they ate at a restaurant. The delegation had brought a small company flag and put it at the table, and they were getting strange looks. After just a few days they discovered that "Tussa", a perfectly innocent word in Norwegian, has a completely different meaning in Icelandic. Let's say it means "infant cat", only not ....... :v
In New Zealand, Mufti Day means a day at school where students dont have to wear uniform, But a South African friend of mine was quite horrified because he said that in Afrikaans, 'Muft' meant something you do with your mouth...

Sounds like it might be a geographical location in Norway ('vik' meaning 'bay'")
