What's the best way to prepare the holes and ensure they're not over-done? Broiling? Roasting?
I have heard that. ....... Doughnuts ! ......ahhhhhhh !!!!

I am more of a custard slice fan myself. Though ever since College, I have a weakness for Muffins. Esp the blueberry, Choc or lemon ones with the sauce in them.
I think I went off Doughnuts after trying krispie creame ones. Even the smell of them make me sick.
Batter only works on fish in my book.
I could really go a custard slice now...
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?
For years doing a lot of driving to various hotels, I used to live on
Sausage rolls, and Mr Kippling little apple pies. ) as you can eat them
while driving.

Donuts only got popular in Switzerland in the last decade. Now you can get them everywhere but always only the same ole sorts like with sugar coating in various colours (mostly pink, why for Heaven's sake?) or chocolate coating. Sometimes filled with vanilla sauce.
Bagels on the other hand are virtually unknown here.
So is Porridge. I spent a good part of my youth in Bournemouth and Porridge is one of my favourite things in the world. I have to import the stuff ) imagine that, because no one even knows what it is here.
The Swiss have "Müesli" which seems to be muesli in English ) if you understand that...
) I said " Old Fashioned" as on one of the hundreds of cooking shows
We get, I think Gordon Ramsay said, it was so 1980s ? But I love it, I only
Get it on special occasions. A local small cake shop does a lovely one -{
Love a bit of Tiramisu too. ) infact I don't think there'd be much on a
Dessert trolly, I wouldn't like
I used to love the desserts at Weddings, as many couples now do a little
plate with three or four different little desserts. -{

I also love Black Forest but I wonder, since Melton Mowbray has to be made in Melton Mowbray, Champagne has to be made in Champagne and Cornish pasties must be made in Cornwall, does a Black Forest Gateau have to be made in the middle of a deep, dark forest...preferably by elves?
Yes ... preferably all going by the name 'Sarah Lee' , then sold in any frozen food shop ... )
Actually, can we reinstate the dessert trolley here at the SABS ? A homage to the days when you could get proper food and proper desserts instead of namby pamby fusion cr@p ??
Perhaps scampi/chicken in a basket? A surf and Turf ?? Ploughman lunch?
We can give out the plowman's lunch ...... But he won't he
Happy about it.

TB2 comes out of the kitchen pushing a two level trolley with different cakes, biscuits and three loaves of freshly baked bread. He is followed by Holly. The cat is gently "pawing out" a second trolley, it has a large Black Forest gateau surrounded by several Angel cakes and a sizeable Madeira cake loaf. The gateau has the Bond gun barrel on it. The Madeira has a large letter M in icing.
Took me ages to teach her that one! Amazing what smearing a little tuna sauce on the wheels can do.
Ok, I have been putting that industrial furnace in the basement to good use, and the kitchen oven does a lovely loaf or two. I assume a cup of tea with a slice of the gateau M'Lady?
Who wants what?
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?
I'm terribly sorry but unless Tiddles, err, I mean Holly, made that Black Forest Gateau in a deep, dark forest and the Madeira cake loaf was made on a Portuguese island, I will have to call the authorities.

TEA? ... No, still a glass of red .... You don't know me at all TB2 )

A glass of red it is M'Lady. Though I advise caution there is a fair amount of cherry brandy in the gateau!
Domino what do you take me for? Holly only pushed the second trolley, I did all the baking.
((TB2 passes over a slice of cake. It smells of Madeira rum) Here, be a good chap and stick that in your cake hole!
Pussy, Barbel might be a bit ticked off at breakfast. I've used all the eggs! Sorry bout that. ;%

I love Black Forest Gateaux !!!
Do you know what I miss in restaurants today? The sweet trolley.
I could never decide between a Tiramisu or the Black Forest Gateaux. Never fancied the oranges in liqueur though ...
