Jasper Carrott used to be very funny... then suddenly he wasn't.

It's very bizarre how that happens Barbel, jasper carrot is just one of many who've " lost it"

I went watching both Jasper Carrott and Phil Cool in Southport many years ago - they were great !

Phil always struggled with his nerves really badly before performing so he decided to take time away...

Thats a shame he was very good. Many performers seem to suffer with nerves, George Harrison famously had horrific stage fright.

I have read that some nerves are a good thing, as it means you're still excited by
    what you're doing.

Yes I've heard that too, apparently Robbie Williams suffers too but as you suggest channels this, often ending up in tears at the end of a show.

There is a story of James Dean getting nervous on set. So he walked
over to a fenced off area, where the public were watching the filming.
He then proceeded to have a pee in front of everyone. His thinking was
if he could do that in front of an audience, he could do anything.

Nerves ended Mike Yarwood's career too.
Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.

Autocorrect did what it does best on that post. It was ment to read: I just visited the local shop. On my way I nearly crashed into two deer. Then five minutes later I nearly killed a third one..... Beautiful animals.

I don't try to kill them - they are trying to kill themselves. Suicide by car.
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
I guess they must get depressed this time of year. ;)

The time of year gets them down, yes. But basically it's a common Scandinavian pastime.

I heard yesterday that some deers eyes change colour in the winter so they can see in the dark. Over here we spread salt on our roads in winter to stop the ice, this salt the deer find irresistible and they lick the roads obviously putting them and the drivers in harms way, this technique also has the effect of rusting you car! They are beautiful animals, I once went on a non fatal deer stalk in Scotland, an incredible experience and the only shooting was by camera.
Another experience I had was while out pheasant shooting, my beloved labrador Josh got bowled over by some deer racing through the woods, amazing how such big animals can navigate through dense woods with such speed elegance and accuracy.....Josh was fine by the way.
