    I wonder how many members have spent the weekend at " the other place" coming back here with lipstick on their collars and smelling of cheap perfume? :D

    Congratulations, TB2 -{
    I'll have the usual, thank you.
    Being without AJB007 was horrible. Don't ever do that to us again, SiCo...
    Last night I fond myself fondling my smart phone all the time (in a non-sexual way), today the shakes came. Thank God AJB007 came up again, by tomorrow I fear I would have joined MI6community. Who knows, perhaps even CraigNotBond would have seen new members if the wait was long enough? The horror :o

    Correct. Higgins plays it like a fiddle.

    To be boringly pedantic, Formby usually played a banjolele rather than a ukulele. In my band, we use both a ukulele and a banjo (on different songs) and they're distinct instruments- the banjolele is a compromise.
  • ChriscoopChriscoop Belize Posts: 10,458MI6 Agent
    I thought he played both ?:) isn't a banjo played in a completely different way Barbel? I'm aware there are various fingerpicking styles, where as a ukulele is more strumming?
    I'll have a Macallan 12 year old please.

    I'll have a Coke Zero and no ukulele, banjo or banjolele music, please. I'm sure Barbel's band plays them all very well, but he could use some time away from work :)
  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 37,886Chief of Staff
    It's in the tuning more than the playing. I'm used to regular guitar tuning, so playing bass (which is my normal slot in a band situation) isn't too much of a stretch since a bass is tuned to the bottom four strings of a guitar, though naturally an octave lower. Banjo is usually tuned to a chord (say G) therefore playing open gives you G, barring gives you Ab then A and so on (with one string being kept open on a 5-string banjo to give a drone in G). Ukulele tuning is different.

    Interesting -{ despite playing guitar I never picked up a ukulele or banjo, but I do like a well played banjo now and then. I did get into fingerstyle a little after seeing Tommy emnanuel, have you come accross him?

    :)) :o poor Higgins, having his instrument doused in petrol while it's burning must be making his eyes water.
    Reminds me of the time I applied some deep heat muscle rub to my knee and then went to the loo!

    I've heard them on the radio before, though I never knew they did that! Coincidence too as I've been listening to morricone a lot recently.
