    Responds Higgins -

    Apologies for delay... Ditto Barbel.

A.R.S.E. Activate emergency bar protocol. TB2 Grounded.
    Holly? Guard Duty Please Cat!

Anyone needs me, I'll be lying Down in the Landlord’s guest bedroom...

(The light fittings pulse red, then stay on a pale yellow colour.
The A.R.S.E’s Cylon Eye switches to red, and starts scanning the room. Three smaller units each on four wheels scoot out of a floor level wall hatch and with their smaller Cylon eye each scan areas the A.R.S.E can’t see by itself. All make quiet ticking noises.

Holly leaves her basket in favour of her watch post rug. While never taking her eyes off the front door and the bar alternately, she starts to gently clean her claws.

    Freddie is under the sideboard.)

Hope you feel better soon, TB2.
If only there was someone who could run the Silencer & Bra Strap while you're out of it....
If only there was an obvious person....

TB2 on Intercom... Your current assignment has been cancelled Barbel, you have Deputy Barman Responsibility in the S.A.Bs! Holly and the A.R.S.E will keep you right till I’m upright again. And keep an eye on Freddie!

    :o

Alas, I shall have to decline such a generous offer. I'll be participating in the group watch and the podcast, as well as anything else that may come up, so won't be able to run the S&BS.

If only there was someone who could come to our rescue....

(speaking up only because I'm the oposite of obvious for a barman)

-The usual, please. I wonder what the anti-Corona measures here in SABS?
  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 37,812Chief of Staff
Sorry, couldn't hear you properly through your facemask and the Hazmat suit I'm wearing.

Best to be on the safe side. You never know if the motion activated shower of anti-bac spray at they door is enough.

I’m back, but on light duties...

Number 24 the Dion airlock is getting fitted next week. They wants to make the doors like those on Drax’s Space station. Initially temps I refused. Traditional walnut and nothing else!

R2D2 and Tinplate 242 are here, Tinplate is going to project the film, and R2 has kindly offered to run around serving the nibbles to whoever wants them.
This leaves Holly, The A.R.S.E and Myself free to enjoy the film from Barbel’s table.
(Holly pads past, carrying her film viewing pillow. It’s half the size of a duvet. she gently places it next to Barbel’s table, surveys it, sniffs it, then marches to its centre to gently stomp out any lumps.)

Freddie will no doubt be staying under the sideboard. He is scared of heights, deep water and sharks, so he won’t want to join us beyond Bond’s visit to Q branch!

    Right, prep the beer...

Good stuff, TB2. A pint of cold lager please, and perhaps some of the stronger stuff later. :)

    Coke Zero it is.....

While I remember, I’d like to propose a small name change.

As of Monday, I’d like to rename the pub to “The Silencer & Black Garter”. Homage to a pub I used to know. Still abbreviated as ‘SABs’..... Same Pub same service and gadgets, just under a new name.
    Is everyone Ok with this?

    Thanks.

Smart lady (though of course I'd agree, since I was a nurse too though for not quite as long).

I'm ok with changing the name of this place. If anyone can show just cause why this shouldn't happen, let him speak now or forever hold his piece. Er, peace.

    I have no objections. ;)

I'm fairly new here but I do like the ambience and I see you have a nice selection of Bourbon on the top shelf, so by all means Virgil - FAB!

(TB2 has been fitting a new smaller version of the A.R.S.E to the side wall next to the bar,
by the red line phone. it is white, with a smaller, flatter cylon eye, in a pale yellow colour. Ithas a cable running up to a sensor box on the ceiling.

The sensor box has seven eyes, each pointing at different doors. The
large central one is staring at the new airlock style front door. Essentially an outter porch
has been added, and there is an outer and inner door. same wooded panel style, with small glass panel windows.

    Test! Full spectrum, standby mode!

(A scanner beam is projected from each eye and scans the various doorways.
The large central one scans the room and the inner front door. There is a ding sound.)

A.R.S.E? Please access the test system logs. Did the scan work Ok?

(The A.R.S.E. alao scans the room with its Cylon eye, makes several tickimg and clonking sounds, and then its screen lights up with the following images. A torch on full beam, a germ cell with a 0% and a thumbs up with a happy smilie.)

Good! All set up for Sunday dinner services to restart tomorrow.
Next, the holograph projector in the floor needs a resolution upgrade.
After that I'll call it a day, and clean out the science lab tomorrow morning.

Are you having a launch party for the opening of the new pub, TB2?

If you are, make mine a large Very Old Captain rum, pineapple and ice, shaken not stirred, please :D
Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.
  • Thunderbird 2Thunderbird 2 East of Cardiff, Wales.Posts: 2,801MI6 Agent
    Thanks Cool Hand,

Your Rum is sitting on the bar. Glass with the small Yellow Umbrella next to it. Nah, not a formal re-opening or anything like that, just some upgrades and Coronavirus upgrades. :))

(TB2 carefully looks round the pub.

There is no extra decorating or specific Bond film themes in place. R2D2 trundles up to the bar and makes several tooting trumpet sounds, followed by a whoope cushion style fart noise.
Holly is already on her film viewing cushion at Barbel’s table and looks uncharacteristically worried.
Freddie is gently pawing at the screen, making murmured mewing noises. He wants to see this film!)

Heavens Artoo, Language! It IS a spoof, and no I would not expect You, Tinplate 242 or any of the others to do this. Besides, the A.R.S.E has special programming to handle this film.

(Hearing it’s abbreviated name mentioned, the A.R.S.E makes several ticking noises, and it’s Cylon eye goes a dangerous shade of red. It’s screen lights up with a two fingers gesture and makes a raspberry noise.)

Don’t you start! You are a uniquely qualified piece of Bondian A.I! You can handle this!

    Who wants a drink?

A thing of beauty Barbel, a Thing Of Beauty!

To everyone who watched “That film” tonight, a free double, on the house, as long as it is 12% proof or higher!

  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 37,812Chief of Staff
I'll take that double, thanks. And now I don't need to watch that film again for years...

It's good that Higgins has been voted AJB007 Agent of the Year 2020.
Makes a change from it being me... :D :D :D

It's early days, but I'd like to nominate SpectreOfDefeat for our NEW agent of the year. Anyone think this is worthy of a thread?
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,306MI6 Agent
I think SpectreOfDefeat is a fine nominee for New Agent of the Year. I'd like a thread on agents of the year, old and new, but isn't it a bit early to decide who wins? I mean, it's possible Higgins posts someting ill-advised about Dalton :v
  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 37,812Chief of Staff
...hence my phrase "It's early days".
I'm just suggesting such a thread might be of interest.
