And what, preytell, is 'National Snow Evening' comprised of? Live coverage of snow falling, melting etc? Artistic competitions like snowman making and ice-sculpting? Sports like snowball fighting, snowshoeing etc?
Maybe, maybe not? Perhaps they have similar entertainment in Lapland. Do we have any members in Lapland? If so, is it true that the national dance is the Lap Dance?
So, landlord, the whole point of the Miss Marple character is that she's a harmless old lady, who isn't taken seriously by the murderer or the cops (at first, anyway). Most of the actresses who've played her fit that role pretty well.
If she is played as a young ass-kicking agent, then it isn't Miss Marple.
) I fully agree, ( I've read all the Miss Marple stories and love the character)
An old woman, hearing bits of gossip and able to move around, with no one
Thinking her a threat.
In my opinion, it's a silly movie executive idea. Although I'm sure to many people
They don't know much about her, so for a generation brought up on " The Hangover"
" Hot tub time machine" and " Bad Neighbours" , they probably couldn't care less.
Get a hot chick in a bikini, solving a murder at her university....... That's what people
Want ! 8-)

Although she looked nothing like the character described in the novels, I
Loved Margaret Rutherford as Miss Marple, I remember watching her as a
Kid and being scared, watching her confront the murderer. I didn't think
Anyone could come close until Geraldine McEwan, who I also loved playing
Miss Marple, she played her with a twinkle in her eye. -{
I'm sure you already know but " The mirror cracked from side to side" was
Dedicated to Margaret Rutherford, who wore her own clothes and insisted that
A part be invented for her Husband, so they could stay together during filming
So the character of Mr Stringer was born.

Yes, he was brilliant, but my favourite ( once again from my childhood ) was
Basil Rathbone. In fact the creators of the fantastic " Sherlock" series, have
Said they hold those older films in high regard, and have put in the odd " homage"
To scenes from the Rathbone films.
A couple of years ago I read all the Sherlock Holmes books for the first time in my life and thoroughly enjoyed them. They're a bit cheesy largely due to their age, but they've withstood the test of time well and I really enjoyed them all. I read them in the order in which they were written which I think is a 'must', and would highly recommend them to anyone.
I have the Jeremy Brett box set. They are absolutely brilliant IMO With regards theme tunes, I also have the Patrick Gowers soundtrack that accompanied this series and would recommend it.
The theme tune to Miss Marple is classic. They just don't write them like that anymore. In fact they don't even make any sort of effort..

For me it works like this. Sherlock Holmes = Jeremy Brett. Miss Marple = Joan Huckson. (Julia Mackenzie honourable second.). Monsuier Poirot = David Suchet.
American go to slueths - Jessica Fletcher and Dr Sloan and his team. Angela Landsbury is brilliant as Mrs Fletcher, and Dick Van Dyke's series is great for the ensable team aspect. I want to add Columbo as Peter Faulk is just as good as the others, but I am always disapointed that we see the crimes carried our, instead of having to work it out too.
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?
Some American detectives I loved, Columbo ( obviously) but also .......
Banachek, insurance investigator who solves baffling / impossible thefts.
Blake's magic, mystery solving magician, similar to Banachek and an

To ask if you'd figured out who the murder was.

We're waiting on some information on BlackLeiter's Island, to try and organise
A trip there and hopefully get a branch of the SBS up and running, although I'm
Guessing it will have to be called the Goldfinger lounge or Thunderball's
" The kiss, kiss, bang, bang". ) but given the age of the membership, there'll be
Very little kissing and the Banging is out of the question.

He has now purchased a boat called 'Slipped Disco Volante' which does daily trips round the island
I love the " Slipped Disco Volante" that's bound to be popular.
TDE, to think you once criticised me for an old Thunderbirds joke .
Still the resort seems to be shaping up nicely.

Criticise you, TP? Never! Not only do I find you intelligent, charming and great company, but you're also the only drinking establishment on this board that will still admit me!
I purposely left out the good-looking bit because I know you're prone to blushing. Either that or the gin is bursting a few more capillaries these days.
) I'm getting fitter every day, I do the Bond exercise routine every morning.
Well I read that passage from the book every morning, same thing, isn't it ?

I thought you were converting the SBS into a prototype for the Tropical SBS with the addition of the new swim-up bar, but then I realised it was just the toilet overflowing.

Sounds a bit like yourself, TP :v
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
Nobody suspects the photographer.... except Sherlock!
+1 another classic from childhood. The iconic Ron Goodwin theme is available on iTunes too, amazingly. I mean, who'd buy it? Ahem. ;%
Have it on my mp3 player.

If anyone hasn't heard the fantastic Miss Marple theme by Ron Goodwin.
